Good birders should know about bird taxonomy, adaptations,<br />
field marks, habitats and GISS - including our general<br />
impressions of the sizes, shapes, postures, flight patterns and<br />
behaviors of birds. We will focus on identifying pelicans,<br />
terns, gulls, diverse water birds including swimmers, waders<br />
and, briefly, shorebirds, plus neighborhood birds to be found<br />
here during the winter. Practice using binoculars and field<br />
guides on four Saturday morning half-day field trips with<br />
dates to be announced at the first class.<br />
