G E D® ( G E N E R A L E D U C A T I O N D I P L O M A ) GED® Testing at Our Center The Palo Alto Adult School is an authorized testing agency for the General Education Development Test. This test is recognized as a High School Equivalency Certificate throughout the United States. Anyone over 18 years of age who does not have a high school diploma is eligible to take the test. Please call to determine eligibility if you are under 18. Tests are given by appointment for a fee of $175. Testing accommodations are available by request. For information, call (650) 329-3752. The current GED test series will be discontinued at the end of 2013. Be prepared to complete all tests by December 2013. A new series of computer-based tests will begin in 2014. A D U L T S W I T H D I S A B I L I T I E S ACADEMIC FUNCTIONS Instructor: Barbara Kurth People recovering from emotionally disabling illnesses receive assistance in developing appropriate social and work skills in this educational program. Services provided include: structured small classes that focus on independent living and work skills; prevocational counseling; guidance in part-time training; and individual and family counseling. Complete several photographic assignments where you will apply newly learned concepts like depth of field, rule of thirds, exposure compensation and contrast range. All camera types are included. Bring a camera and its instruction manual. No class January 21 and February 18. 8 wks • January 7–March 11 Monday • 7:30–9:30 p.m. Palo Alto HS Rm 101 • $112 PHOTOGRAPHY: Advanced Black-and-White Darkroom Instructor: Elizabeth Crandall Prerequisite: Prior black and white darkroom experience. Enhance and sharpen your darkroom skills, and express and stretch your unique artistic vision by creating your own photographic projects. Reduce variables in printing and processing techniques, troubleshoot film and prints, and use compositional tools and view prints critically yet artistically. Please bring negatives and photographic paper the first night. A materials list and standard darkroom chemicals will be provided.
