Master the basics of American English pronunciation:<br />

stress, rhythm and intonation; emphasize the contrast<br />

between clear and reduced sounds. The instructor will assess<br />

each student’s strengths and weaknesses, then provide a<br />

written pronunciation profile to be used as the basis for<br />

pronunciation practice during the course. Please purchase the<br />

required textbook at the <strong>Adult</strong> <strong>School</strong> office before the first day of<br />

class. Class size is limited to 18.<br />

CONVERSATION CLUB: “The Last Lecture”<br />

learners.<br />

Develop your vocabulary and conversation skills while<br />

reading and discussing the brave and wonderful story of<br />

college professor Randy Pausch, who wrote The Last Lecture<br />

during the last months of his life. Enlightening and uplifting,<br />

the book is a personal story that discusses his life and his<br />

dreams and how he learned to live the best life he could.<br />

There will be some fun activities to help improve your<br />

English and develop your creativity as we explore Professor<br />

Pausch’s full and meaningful life. The book The Last Lecture is<br />

required and can be purchased online. Please bring it with you<br />

to the first class.<br />

other international students, learn about<br />

their cultures and exchange ideas with them<br />

on a variety of subjects. Each quarter we cover<br />

new movies, so feel free to repeat the class even if<br />
