Intro to NaNoWriMo: Write a<br />

Novel in 1 month!<br />

Have you always wanted to write a novel, but never<br />

had the time? Well, November is National Novel<br />

Writing Month, so come along and learn how to<br />

start your novel-writing journey! In this session, Kate<br />

Naughton from the Melbourne branch of NaNoWriMo<br />

will explain how to set up a NaNoWriMo account to<br />

track your word count, connect to other writers, and<br />

stay motivated when the dreaded writers’ block hits.<br />

Memoir Writing Workshop<br />

Writing life stories is about preserving memories.<br />

This friendly, informative session with author Sue<br />

Gunningham, is ideal for anyone wanting to begin<br />

writing their life story. There will be some readings,<br />

discussion and writing tasks to start you on the<br />

journey.<br />

This is a facilitated writing group led by an<br />

experienced writing mentor, Jenny Hedley.<br />

Sessions will include a tutorial with a guest writer<br />

with disability and will make use of films and other<br />

resources from Writers Victoria’s Writeability<br />

Archive. The writing group will be held monthly<br />

from June to December <strong>2023</strong>.<br />

This is a Creative writing workshop for young<br />

adults (18-25) living with disability. This includes<br />

(but isn't limited to) people with sensory or physical<br />

issues, hidden issues, ongoing medical conditions,<br />

learning difficulties or mental health conditions. If<br />

you self-identify as a person with disability, or as<br />

someone who experiences barriers as a result of<br />

your condition, then this opportunity is for you.<br />

Writing for Wellbeing with<br />

Sian Prior<br />

Mental Health Week<br />

Discover how writing can help distance you from<br />

things that cause you distress, let you clarify your<br />

thinking and take control of your personal narrative.<br />

In this workshop, Sian will introduce you to a variety<br />

of therapeutic writing techniques to find out which<br />

works best for you. The workshop is open to all,<br />

regardless of spelling and grammar skills or writing<br />

ability. All you need is a notepad and pen.<br />

joins us to share her experiences of spiders around<br />

Shakespeare and<br />

Oscar Wilde<br />

A read aloud experience!<br />

Come to the library to enjoy some classic literature<br />

in a read-aloud experience! You can listen to others<br />

or join in reading passages written by The Bard.<br />

Each session will be lead by a branch librarian and<br />

as a group we will take turns reading out loud one<br />

of Shakespeare’s plays. Fun for those who like to<br />

act out stories through voice, but also enjoyable for<br />

those who love to listen to stories! Performers and<br />

spectators welcome, should you wish to practice<br />

your Shakespearean delivery skills.<br />
