No time to paws on registration
THERE ARE only a few weeks
left for people to register their
dogs.
City council dog owners must
have their registrations paid by
September 1 to avoid any late
penalties.
“We’ve sent out email and
mail notifications to remind
people to register their dogs,”
city council animal services
manager Lionel Bridger said.
“It’s great to see 70 per cent
of people have got theirs in so if
you haven’t, there is still time to
get onto it.”
Bridger says Responsible Dog
Owners should already have
completed their registration,
otherwise they may risk losing
their status.
“The team has received
significant number of requests
to update dog details and are
working very hard to have these
completed as soon as possible.
Speed cushions planned to slow traffic
•From page 1
“Speed cushions are
good for this area, as they
force ordinary vehicles to
slow down to go over them,
while heavy vehicles such
as buses, fire engines and
ambulances are typically
wide enough to straddle them,”
Bradbury said.
“This minimises the noise and
to be completed which would
affect their fees will not be
impacted.”
There was a small increase
to the fees. The standard
registration fee for spayed and
neutered dogs has increased
from $82 to $83 and the RDO
registration fee is has gone from
$59 to $60.
“While it doesn’t seem like
a lot it will help us continue to
provide the dog related services
we do in the community,”
Bridger said.
“This is things like
free dog microchipping,
free education programmes,
dog shelters, dog parks,
dog control investigations,
and patrols of beaches and
prohibited areas.”
•Registration
payments can be made
online, by phone or at any
of the city council’s service
centres.
vibration issues that sometimes
occurs from these types of
vehicles travelling over traffic
slowing features.”
Improvements to the
Glandovey/Fendalton
intersection, including kerb
buildouts and relocation of the
pedestrian crossing, are also
included in the plan to support
safety.
“To accommodate this plan,
some parking loss is required.
However, we’ve completed
parking occupancy surveys
which show that, on average,
enough parks will be left to
support current use,” Bradbury
said.
• Public feedback is
open until September 5.
Green
light to fix
intersection
‘fantastic’
•From page 1
“During the approval process
to carry out rectification
measures to damaged assets,
additional asset damage
occurred, which altered the
working methodology and
therefore required to start the
relevant approval processes
again,” Wright said.
He said the traffic signals were
commissioned in 1988 and have
had no significant upgrades
carried out since.
“The below ground
infrastructure is therefore aged
and requires additional efforts
to upgrade to current standards
and future proofing.”
Hornby Ward city councillor
Mark Peters said he got an email
on Friday telling him the permit
had been granted.
“It is fantastic news. I
understand that staff will now
turn to start finalising plans to
get the signals at the intersection
renewed,” he said.
Peters said he is hoping a right
turn arrow will be included in
the renewal work.
“I have certainly asked to have
it done once and done right.”
