As we reach the end of summer which has not been the greatest in terms of weather it will be interesting to see which way the wind is blowing in regard to the environment as the next general election approaches. I live close to London and the ULEZ extension has been on top of the agenda for many people. The statistics on London’s air quality are extremely worrying with the WHO saying that air pollution far exceeds limits. Do we ignore the evidence and continue to put lives at risk? I would imagine we would not like a polluting business near our home or place of work and it is impressive that blinds companies are stepping up and taking on board their environmental responsibilities. We are all aware that there is a cost involved, but it seems a small price to pay for a healthy future. John Hatcher editor

According to Jan Kattenbeck, the<br />
cooperation of a qualified planning team<br />
with a local specialist dealer was one of the<br />
customer’s main priorities along with the<br />
high quality of both the product and the<br />
design. Equally important was their wish to<br />
protect an area large enough to seat a total<br />
of around 100 outdoor guests from rain<br />
and sun during the summer season. To this<br />
end, several vertical roller blinds were also<br />
installed with both awning systems and on<br />
the front of one window. These can simply<br />
be lowered when the sun is low in the sky<br />
and, together with the LED light integrated<br />
in the awning, create a pleasant atmosphere<br />
in the evening. “This wonderful feeling of<br />
being outdoors encourages the guests to<br />
linger longer and is now very much a part<br />
of the sophisticated experience concept the<br />
Hotel Löwen is aiming to achieve. Along<br />
with smooth conclusion of the project, that<br />
represents success for both us and the<br />
customer,” says a satisfied Jan Kattenbeck.<br />
