Fabrikstrasse 28
Tadao Ando’s “diamond” owes its shape to the
wedge-shaped plot that closes off the Novartis
Campus to the north. The laboratory building
(2010) is flanked by Richard Serra’s monumental
sculpture “Dirk’s Pod”.
Square 3
As the first project away from the main axis, the
office building (2009) designed by Fumihiko Maki
is all about maximum transparency. The rooms may
appear austere at first, but soon turn out to be
versatile office landscapes.
Physic Garden 3
A spacious lobby beneath a symmetrically
arranged mix of offices in the north, laboratories in
the south and meeting areas in the middle – the
laboratory building (2011) designed by Eduardo
Souto de Moura embodies clarity.
Virchow 6
The laboratory and office building (2011) designed
by Álvaro Siza Vieira is all about open space.
Laboratories and open-plan offices are only
separated by glass.
Asklepios 8
Standing at 63 metres tall, the office building
(2015) designed by Herzog & de Meuron forms the
distinctive corner point of the Novartis Campus on
the Rhine, looking anything but bulky thanks to the
filigree supports.
