Kunstmuseum Hauptbau<br />
The world’s first publicly accessible art collection<br />
is now housed in the main building (1936) designed<br />
by Rudolf Christ and Paul Bonatz. You pass<br />
Auguste Rodin’s “The Burghers of Calais” as you<br />
enter the building through the inner courtyard.<br />

Intended as a relief for the main building (•70)<br />
and designed specifically for special exhibitions,<br />
the new building (2016) by Christ & Gantenbein<br />

Theater Basel<br />
The Fasnacht fountain designed by Jean Tinguely<br />
in front of the curved roof of the theatre building<br />
(1975) designed by Schwarz & Gutmann is perhaps<br />
the most photographed motif in all of Basel.<br />
The largest multi-purpose theatre in Switzerland<br />

Music Museum<br />
Musical instruments from five different centuries<br />
are presented in the 24 cells of the converted<br />
Lohnhof prison (2000). Morger & Degelo<br />
Architekten thought up the perfect setting for<br />
the largest collection of its kind in Switzerland.<br />
