FMA students represented FMA in eight case competitions
over the last two years: KROLL YOUniversity Deal Challenge,
the CFA Institute Research Challenge (two years), the UGA
Stock Pitch Competition (two years), University of Michigan’s
Investment Conference, Bloomberg Trading Challenge, and
the Harvard Global Business Case Competition.
The CFA case competition provides
students with hands on mentoring and
intensive training in financial analysis
using analytical valuation, report writing
and presentations skills. The 2022
team took second place in the regional
competition and included members James
Rosen, Stephen Sadie, Wesley Lowman,
and Emily Dunaway. “It’s good for the
students to participate in such a large-scale
competition and compete with other top
schools. I’m so proud of our students,” said
Albert Wang, associate professor in finance
at Harbert College, who serves as an ASIF
faculty advisor as well as the CFA case
comp advisor.
2022 was the first time that Auburn
participated in the UIC at Michigan. With
approximately 200 entrants, UIC invited
the top 25 to come to campus for a live
pitch. Both FMA teams were invited and
made the trek to Ann Arbor. Each team
is expected to pitch an equity (minimum
market cap of $500mm), long or short.
Selections must be a stock (common or
preferred). The opportunity is evaluated
as a long or short position with a three-totwelve-month
investment horizon. FMA
participants across both teams included
Chris Harrell, Grace Ann Tankersley, Hallie
Ramsey, Pierson Black, Patrick Sullivan, and
Brady Arnette.
Case competitions provide FMA students
with practical, hands-on application and
industry exposure, and students continue to
proudly represent our program at regional
and national competitions.
