WESLEY
LOWMAN
In the spring of 2023, FMA celebrated the
recognition of our multi-talented CIO, Wesley
Lowman, when he received the Jeff and Linda Stone
Leadership Award from the College of Engineering.
The award promotes the development of leadership abilities in
Auburn’s engineering students and was established to recognize
Auburn Engineering students who have exhibited outstanding
leadership in areas beyond engineering. The annual award amount
is $3,000.
Wesley has excelled as a leader in both FMA and ASIF. Prior to
being named chief investment officer for ASIF, Wes served as the
chief technology officer for FMA and a sector director for ASIF.
His knowledge of business, as well as his engineering prowess, also
gained Wes a spot on the coveted Harvard Global Business Case
Competition – where Wesley managed the graphics and videography
output for the team. These efforts helped to bring home the
international first place title. The young steward gives back to the
College of Engineering as well as a Cupola ambassador.
It’s impressive to note that Wesley accomplished all of this while
completing three internships with NASA over the past year, working
40 hours a week developing software for the Marshall Space Flight
Center’s Structural Strength Test Lab. He made amazing progress
while at NASA, including developing multiple desktop applications,
including a messaging system for the apps, from the ground up.
TRACY
RICHARD
In spring of 2023, FMA/ASIF Director Tracy
Richard was named the Cory Edwards Organization
Advisor of the Year for the second time. Tracy was also
named Superior Advisor by FMA National Student Organization for
the third time in 2022.
Katie Leone, FMA’s VP of external engagement, nominated
Richard for the AU Involvement award: “Coming to Auburn from
Pennsylvania, I knew few people and had absolutely no idea what
I wanted to do. That is, until I met with Tracy Richard for the first
time. I vividly remember sitting in her office as a senior in high
school after my Harbert College of Business tour. Surrounded by
posters that boldly read the words, Finance Rocks, I listened as
Professor Richard told me about the myriad of opportunities for
women in finance. ‘You can accomplish whatever you set your mind
to. Don’t let anyone tell you differently’, she told me. Her attitude and
guidance ignited a fire inside of me that I carry with me to this day.
She has been my support system during my college years. I know that
I can go to her with anything and for that I am eternally grateful.”
Nick Thompson, FMA co-president adds: “Tracy’s advice and
knowledge has not only helped me, but also many of my peers. She’s
the kind of leader who makes everyone around her want to work
harder. She relies on the students to help run FMA and thoughtfully
places each of us in roles that play to our strengths. Her efforts are
intentional, and the results speak to that. As I proceed to graduate
in May, I will not forget the organization which shaped me and the
mentor who taught me the importance of grit, selflessness, and
gratitude.”
