Florida has plenty of busy beach towns. But<br />

if you prefer a laid-back coastal vacation<br />

where you can experience nature on two<br />

feet or two wheels, consider the five-community-strong<br />

area of New Smyrna Beach,<br />

just an hour’s drive from Orlando. Thanks to<br />

significant efforts from cycling advocates,<br />

this area of Florida is a bike rider’s dream,<br />

with as many paved and natural trails as<br />

beautiful beaches. But even without a helmet<br />

and two wheels, New Smyrna Beach’s<br />

courses, many wheelchair accessible, invite<br />

every visitor to opt outside.<br />

The <strong>NSB</strong> Outdoor Trail is a great place to<br />

start to get a lay of the land. The fifty miles<br />

of paths and elevated boardwalks overlook<br />

dunes, allowing pedestrians to enjoy eight<br />

stops along the way. Rest or enjoy a picnic<br />

at Grayce K. Barck North Beach Community<br />

Park, a stunning natural beachfront property.<br />

Alternatively, get a hands-on look at the<br />

Indian River Lagoon’s ecological diversity<br />

by stopping at the Marine Discovery Center<br />

during your excursion.<br />

E-bike enthusiasts will also find a warm<br />

welcome in the New Smyrna Beach Area.<br />
