TEDDY BEAR lovers enjoyed the<br />
sunshine with their cuddly companions at<br />
Rolleston’s Brookside Park last week, with<br />
the weather encouraging teddies<br />
of all shapes and sizes to come out in<br />
droves.<br />
The annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic was<br />
organised by the council.<br />
Senior advisor community funding and<br />
events Stefanie Banbury said the popular<br />
festival has grown over the past decade.<br />
The event attracted all sorts of teddies –<br />
big ones, small ones, and even got some<br />
real life teddies, she said.<br />
“It’s part of our ‘Summer in <strong>Selwyn</strong>’<br />
series of events. So we’ve got over 40<br />
events happening between December<br />
and February, and this is one of our key<br />
events.”<br />
Banbury said the picnic was the first<br />
event in the council’s <strong>Selwyn</strong> Event<br />
Sustainability Initiative. People were<br />
encouraged to bring along their reusable<br />
mugs to win prizes.<br />
