Cancer fundraiser nets more than $10k<br />

A CHARITY netball game has raised more<br />
than $10,000 for <strong>Selwyn</strong> cancer patients.<br />
Lincoln-based netball teams, the Lustys<br />
and Springlincs, faced off in a walking<br />
netball game on Sunday to raise money for<br />
the <strong>Selwyn</strong> Cancer Society.<br />
The fundraiser was organised by Liz<br />
Morrish, who has terminal cancer and<br />
has been given only four-to-five months to<br />
live.<br />
Liz has lived in Lincoln all her life and<br />
wanted to do something to give back to her<br />
community. She said she was amazed to see<br />
how many people turned up.<br />
“I actually haven’t got words, I really<br />
haven’t. Most of the people in that hall I<br />
know, it is so wonderful to see everybody<br />
together and I’m just blown away. Yeah,<br />
totally blown away.”<br />
The 68-year-old was diagnosed with<br />
bowel cancer five years ago, and after a<br />
number of operations thought she was in<br />
the clear.<br />
In December 2022, doctors discovered<br />
the cancer had metastasized into her lungs.<br />
Liz also has a tumour in her lower groin<br />
and in the past fortnight found out the<br />
cancer has spread even further.<br />
