Printmaking Explorations
This class will offer a variety of printmaking techniques
to engage students in the magical world of
printmaking, using safer practices and less toxic
materials and methods. For this session, we’ll
concentrate on relief printing. Each class will have
instruction and studio time for students to pursue their
individual interests. No experience necessary, the only
requirement is enthusiasm! Experienced printmakers
welcome.
Materials fee of $25 payable to instructor.
Please bring to class: latex/nitrile gloves in your size,
apron, sketchbook & pencil, drawings, photographs or
other image reference materials. Printmaking paper is
available for purchase at the Art Center (Rives BFK for $6
for 22x30” sheet) or you can bring your own.

Jewelry: Lost Wax Casting
Lost-wax casting has been used since the fourth
millennium BC and is still how most pieces of cast
jewelry are created today. Wax lets you be creative with
your designs in a way that is different from fabrication
and soldering since it’s much more fluid and sculptural.
The possibilities of what you can create with wax, fire,
and molten metal are endless! Join us and experience
the wonderful world of wax carving and casting.
Kit fee of $35 payable to instructor on first day includes
1/2LB of bronze, carving wax, sprue wax, etc., and
investment for casting 6 flasks.

Basketry: Beginning & Beyond
Basketry is one of the oldest known art forms. In this
class we explore techniques and materials, aiming to
cover three basic weaving techniques: coiling, twining
and plaiting, depending on your pace. Materials include
natural, human-made and found. Some examples are
round and flat reed, raffia and seagrass, yarn and rope.
Students can experiment with their own found or
purchased fibers. Advanced/continuing students can
work independently to develop a weaving practice and
learn new techniques.
Please bring $35 material fee payable to instructor.

Standard Western Floral Design
Compositions
Learn different standard Western Floral Design
compositions. These compositions are typically used
in a variety of settings, for example, your table, on your
mantle, in churches, hotel entryways and many other
settings. Each week we will make a new composition
that would be appropriate for a variety of locations. This
course is perfect for beginners and for people who want
to expand their floral design skills.
There is a materials fee of $300, payable to instructor,
that covers all the botanical materials for the class and
a vase. All you need to do is show up and everything will
be provided for you!
