Food waste
You'll already be familiar with your
brown food caddy and this is one of
the collections that aren't changing.
They'll still be collected on a weekly
basis so you can continue putting
these out for collection as you have
done previously.
Items you CAN put in your food
caddy include:
● used teabags and coffee
grounds
● eggshells
● fruit and vegetable peelings
● raw and cooked meat and fish
● plate scrapings
● stale bread
● food that's no longer safe to eat
● animal food
food caddy include:
● oils or fats
● coffee pods
Black bins
Non-recyclable waste will continue
as it always has done, being
collected in a Council-issued black
wheelie bin or in up to three singleuse
plastic bags.
Items you CAN put in your black
wheelie bin (or single-use black
bags) include:
pots, tubs, and trays
● nappies
If you need to get rid of plastic
packaging, you can do this at 'outof-home'
recycling points such as
those at supermarkets.
Blue caddy
The blue caddy is a large, hard
plastic container that's designed to
take your empty bottles and jars.
You'll be expected to empty and
rinse all your glass items that you
place in the caddy, and to remove
any metal or plastic lids - these
need to go in with your red sack for
mixed metals, plastic and cartons.
Items you CAN put in your blue
caddy include:
● glass bottles, such as those used
for beer, wine, and soft drinks
● glass jars, such as those used for
baby food and sauces
● non-food and drink glasses, such
as perfume, aftershave and creams
Blue sack
Your new blue sack is designed to
take cardboard and paper. You'll
need to flatten the cardboard to
fit inside your blue sack where
possible. If you can't fit it in your
blue sack, you can place cardboard
alongside it, providing that it does
not measure more than 1m x 1m
in size and that's not wet. All other
cardboard will need to be kept dry
or you risk not having it collected.
Items you CAN put in your blue
sack include:
● cardboard boxes, such as cereal
boxes, toilet roll tubes and egg
