Dr Marie advises brides to schedule their whitening treatments as early as possible to address any oral concerns and allow sufficient time for the procedures. She stresses the importance of a comprehensive oral examination to evaluate the patient’s needs thoroughly. “Ideally the bride should come in as soon as possible so that we have enough time. Sometimes there are other problems that need to be tended to before we can start with whitening treatments,” says Dr Marie. Sensitive teeth can pose a challenge during whitening treatments. “Teeth whitening can cause sensitivity. For patients who struggle with sensitive teeth, I would advise the at-home whitening kits as the concentration of whitening agent is less and the results happen over a longer period of time.” When choosing between in-office and at-home whitening, brides should consider their timelines and preferences. Dr Marie emphasises the importance of starting at-home treatments at least two weeks before the wedding to ensure optimal results. “We can plan your timeline to determine when the best time would be to start the whitening treatment,” she says. For brides considering teeth aligners, Dr Marie outlines typical timelines ranging from 6 to 18 months for completion. However, she highlights the variability based on individual needs and recommends an early consultation to determine the treatment duration.
