Advanced Certificate in Technology<br />
<strong>The</strong> Advanced Certificate in Technology is<br />
expected to open an avenue for entry-level<br />
technical grades within the Engineering<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>ession.<br />
<strong>The</strong> entry qualification for the programme is<br />
having passed 3 subjects in GCE (A/L)<br />
mathematics stream, or obtained 36 credits<br />
from foundation courses in technology. <strong>The</strong><br />
minimum duration <strong>of</strong> the programme is two<br />
years. <strong>The</strong> medium <strong>of</strong> instruction is English.<br />
For the award <strong>of</strong> the Advanced Certificate in<br />
Technology, it is possible for a student to select<br />
any combination <strong>of</strong> courses meeting the<br />
requirements given in Table 02.<br />
However, particular combinations <strong>of</strong><br />
compulsory courses, given in Table 03 will<br />
entitle the student to the Advanced Certificate<br />
with a specialisation in one <strong>of</strong> the following<br />
areas:<br />

Electrical and Electronic Engineering<br />

<strong>The</strong> Faculty expects a student who has been<br />
awarded the Advanced Certificate in<br />
Technology to be:<br />
Able to appreciate the existence and<br />
significance <strong>of</strong> well-known principles in<br />
engineering technology and,<br />
Self-motivated and capable <strong>of</strong> furthering<br />
career advancement.<br />
<strong>The</strong> courses selected for the award <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Advanced Certificate in Technology shall be so<br />
as to meet the minimum requirements in each<br />
category as shown below in Table 02. If the<br />
credits gained in any category exceed the<br />
maximum limit shown, only such maximum<br />
shall be used in computing the total credits. <strong>The</strong><br />
credits gained in foundation level courses<br />
cannot be counted towards the award <strong>of</strong> the<br />
certificate. <strong>The</strong> complete list <strong>of</strong> courses, with<br />
Prerequisites, is given in the pages 33 - 37.<br />
