Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Industrial Studies<br />
<strong>The</strong> Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Industrial Studies programme<br />
<strong>of</strong> the OUSL is designed specifically for persons<br />
presently employed in middle level<br />
management /technical grades in various<br />
industries.<br />
<strong>The</strong> entry to the programme is through the<br />
Diploma in Industrial Studies programme.<br />
However, entry through other paths is also<br />
possible.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Industrial Studies would be<br />
awarded to students who have acquired credits<br />
satisfying the conditions given in Table 12.<br />
<strong>The</strong>se credits may include credits acquired for<br />
the Diploma in Industrials Studies. <strong>The</strong><br />
minimum duration <strong>of</strong> the Degree programme,<br />
including the Diploma is four years and the<br />
medium <strong>of</strong> instruction is English.<br />
Particular combinations <strong>of</strong> compulsory courses<br />
given in Table 13, will entitle the students to<br />
the Degree in the following specialised areas:<br />
Agriculture*<br />
Apparel Production and Management<br />
Fashion Design & Product Development<br />
Textile Manufacture<br />
Those who possess appropriate qualifications<br />
may seek exemptions from relevant courses <strong>of</strong><br />
the programme. Persons who are employed in a<br />
relevant industry and working in an<br />
environment that would satisfy the training<br />

exemption from the specific training modules.<br />
<strong>The</strong> courses selected for the award <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Industrial Studies shall be so as to<br />
meet the minimum requirements in each<br />
category as shown below. If the credits gained<br />
in any category exceed the maximum limit<br />
shown, only such maximum shall be used in<br />
computing the total credits.<br />

* <strong>Student</strong>s who do not have 3 passes in Biology stream <strong>of</strong><br />
GCE (A/L), but possess Diploma in Agriculture as a<br />
qualification acceptable to the Faculty should register for<br />
relevant courses (Botany or Zoology and Physics or<br />
Chemistry) in the Foundation Programme <strong>of</strong>fered by the<br />
Faculty <strong>of</strong> Natural Sciences, and obtain passes from the<br />
same prior to registering for any courses in Level 6 <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Industrial Studies degree programme.<br />
<strong>The</strong> applicants for the Agriculture specialisation should<br />
have a minimum <strong>of</strong> 108 credits from among the courses<br />
which goes towards satisfying the award <strong>of</strong> the Diploma in<br />
Industrial Studies (Agriculture).<br />
