Bachelor of Industrial Studies
The Bachelor of Industrial Studies programme
of the OUSL is designed specifically for persons
presently employed in middle level
management /technical grades in various
industries.
The entry to the programme is through the
Diploma in Industrial Studies programme.
However, entry through other paths is also
possible.
The Bachelor of Industrial Studies would be
awarded to students who have acquired credits
satisfying the conditions given in Table 12.
These credits may include credits acquired for
the Diploma in Industrials Studies. The
minimum duration of the Degree programme,
including the Diploma is four years and the
medium of instruction is English.
Particular combinations of compulsory courses
given in Table 13, will entitle the students to
the Degree in the following specialised areas:
Agriculture*
Apparel Production and Management
Fashion Design & Product Development
Textile Manufacture
Those who possess appropriate qualifications
may seek exemptions from relevant courses of
the programme. Persons who are employed in a
relevant industry and working in an
environment that would satisfy the training

The courses selected for the award of the
Bachelor of Industrial Studies shall be so as to
meet the minimum requirements in each
category as shown below. If the credits gained
in any category exceed the maximum limit
shown, only such maximum shall be used in
computing the total credits.

* Students who do not have 3 passes in Biology stream of
GCE (A/L), but possess Diploma in Agriculture as a
qualification acceptable to the Faculty should register for
relevant courses (Botany or Zoology and Physics or
Chemistry) in the Foundation Programme offered by the
Faculty of Natural Sciences, and obtain passes from the
same prior to registering for any courses in Level 6 of the
Bachelor of Industrial Studies degree programme.
The applicants for the Agriculture specialisation should
have a minimum of 108 credits from among the courses
which goes towards satisfying the award of the Diploma in
Industrial Studies (Agriculture).
