How to Select Courses?<br />
(Certificate, Diploma and Degree Programmes)<br />
1. Choose the qualification you wish to gain (e.g. Diploma in Technology) from<br />
pages 1 – 2. Take note <strong>of</strong> the respective credit requirements in Tables 02, 04, 06,<br />
08, 10 and 12.<br />
2. Decide on your area <strong>of</strong> specialisation and locate it in the table <strong>of</strong> Compulsory<br />
courses pertaining to your desired qualification in Tables 01, 03, 05, 07, 09, 11 and<br />
13.<br />
3. Identify the credits associated with different Categories at different Levels, for<br />
the Compulsory courses.<br />
4. Identify the balance credit requirements for different Categories at different<br />
Levels, with reference to the appropriate credit tables.<br />
5. Mark the Compulsory courses for your required area <strong>of</strong> specialisation in the<br />
Complete List <strong>of</strong> Courses in pages 35 - 39 (technology programmes) and 52 - 55<br />
(industrial studies programme).<br />
6. Select from the same list as in item 5 above, the additional courses to fulfil the<br />
balance credit requirements for different Categories at different Levels as well as<br />
the Total credit requirement. When you are selecting these additional courses pay<br />
special attention to Prerequisites.<br />
7. You may claim exemptions based on your existing qualifications (follow the<br />
Faculty approved procedure) and <strong>of</strong>fer courses at registration to gradually<br />
complete the courses from lower to higher Levels through the years. This must be<br />
done subject to maximum credit limits allowed per year.<br />
