Day 1 - Sat: Arrive London & Windsor<br />
Start your tour at Heathrow Airport with a transfer to your<br />
hotel in Windsor. In the afternoon visit Windsor Castle,<br />
residence of The Queen and the largest inhabited castle<br />
in the world. In the evening meet your tour director<br />
and fellow travelers over a welcome drink before<br />

Day 2 - Sun: Oxford & York Walks<br />
Drive to Oxford and take a guided walking tour<br />
around the town to see some of the 42 colleges<br />
which form today’s university. Head north to<br />
York for a walking tour through narrow streets,<br />
including the Shambles, past medieval houses<br />
and view the exterior of the stately York Minster.<br />

Day 3 - Mon: Alnwick Castle &<br />
Edinburgh Cabaret<br />
Travel north to visit Alnwick Castle, home of the<br />
Percys, Earls and Dukes of Northumberland since<br />
1309. Today you can see the Abbot’s Tower, the<br />
Middle Gateway and the Constable’s Tower as<br />
well as extensive gardens. Continue through the<br />
Borders region to Edinburgh and attend a lively<br />

Day 4 - Tue: Edinburgh Castle &<br />
Guided City <strong>Tour</strong><br />
Discover Edinburgh’s highlights on a city tour.<br />
See the elegant Georgian “New Town” with<br />
spacious streets and the compact medieval<br />
city along the Royal Mile. <strong>Tour</strong> Edinburgh Castle<br />
to see the Crown Jewels of Scotland and the<br />
Stone of Destiny. The rest of the day is free.<br />

Day 5 - Wed: Lake District &<br />
Beatles’ Liverpool<br />
Stop in Gretna Green, a popular wedding place<br />
near the English border. Drive through the Lake<br />
District for stunning views of lakes, gentle hills<br />
and valleys and stop in Grasmere where William<br />
Wordsworth lived and worked. Continue to<br />
Liverpool where a local guide will show you<br />
many places the Beatles frequented, including<br />

Day 6 - Thu: Tintern Abbey & Cardiff Castle<br />
Take a look around Ludlow, a historic town near<br />
the Welsh border with many old black-and-white<br />
houses and a huge castle. Drive to the picturesque<br />
ruins of Tintern Abbey, founded in 1131 and<br />
dissolved by King Henry VIII. Continue to Cardiff,<br />
Wales’ proud capital and take a tour of Cardiff<br />
Castle, followed by a great Welsh banquet. (B, D)<br />
Day 7 - Fri: Roman Baths & Stonehenge<br />
Take a panoramic tour around Cardiff before<br />
heading to the spa town of Bath to see the<br />
Royal Crescent and the Circus and visit the<br />
Roman Baths and Pump Room, still preserved<br />
after two millennia. Drive to Salisbury Plain to<br />
view the prehistoric circle of vast monoliths at<br />
Stonehenge. Continue to London (B)<br />
Day 8 - Sat: Home or London <strong>Tour</strong><br />
If you have chosen our 8-day tour, transfer to<br />
Heathrow Airport. If you are on our 9-day program,<br />
explore London independently. Use one voucher<br />
for an open-top sightseeing bus tour – and also a<br />
walking tour and a River Thames cruise. Your second<br />
voucher is for a visit to the Tower of London<br />
