Day 1: Glasgow Arrival & <strong>Tour</strong><br />

Land in Glasgow and transfer to your hotel. In<br />

the afternoon drive around the main attractions of<br />

this Victorian city, renowned for its history of<br />

shipbuilding. Join your fellow travelers for a welcome<br />

get-together drink and dinner. (D)<br />

Day 2: Loch Lomond & Glen Coe<br />

View the shores of Loch Lomond and drive<br />

through the towering peaks of Glen Coe. Take the<br />

scenic “Road to the Isles” and cross by ferry to<br />

the Isle of Skye. Drive through the “Misty Isle”<br />

and cross to the mainland to your hotel. (B, D)<br />

Day 3: Isle of Skye <strong>Tour</strong><br />

Discover the beauty of the majestic Cuillin<br />

Mountains and the history of this famous isle.<br />

Visit Dunvegan Castle, stronghold of the Chiefs of<br />

MacLeod for nearly 800 years and stop in<br />

Portree, the capital of the island. (B, D)<br />

Day 4: Inverewe Gardens<br />

Today enjoy more Highland views as you drive<br />

past dramatic scenery near Glen Carron and Loch<br />

Maree to Inverewe Gardens, the most famous in<br />

Scotland. The exotic plantings thrive due to the<br />

warming influence of the Gulf Stream. (B, D)<br />

Day 5: Highland Scenery<br />

Explore one of Scotland’s sparsely-populated<br />

Highland areas and learn history as you pass<br />

mountains and lochs. Stop in the remote village<br />

of Durness and in Bettyhill, built in 1814.<br />

Continue to your hotel in Thurso. (B, D)<br />

Day 6: Isle of Orkney & Skara Brae<br />

Take a ferry ride to Orkney. Visit Skara Brae, a<br />

5,000-year-old village and the Ring of Brodgar,<br />

prehistoric standing stones. See the 12th century<br />

St. Magnus Cathedral and the Italian Chapel<br />

before returning to Thurso. (B, D)<br />

Day 7: John o’ Groats & Dunrobin<br />

Drive to John o’ Groats, the most northerly<br />

village on the British mainland. Visit Dunrobin<br />

Castle, seat of the Earls and Dukes of Sutherland.<br />

Take a guided tour of the castle and watch a<br />

falconry display. Travel south to Nairn. (B, D)<br />

Day 8: Urquhart Castle & Culloden<br />

Castle on Loch Ness. Visit Culloden Battlefield<br />

defeated and tour the defenses at Fort George.<br />

Day 9: Glenfiddich & Edinburgh<br />

In the Spey Valley visit Glenfiddich Distillery and<br />

sample a “wee dram.” Drive south to Pitlochry<br />

and through the majestic scenery of the Grampian<br />

Mountains to Edinburgh and enjoy a pub dinner<br />

Day 10: Edinburgh Castle & City <strong>Tour</strong><br />

Drive through Edinburgh’s Georgian New Town,<br />

Princes Street and the Royal Mile. <strong>Tour</strong> Edinburgh<br />

Castle to see the many historic buildings, the<br />

Scottish Crown Jewels and the Stone of Scone.<br />

Day 11: Depart Edinburgh for Home<br />
