Spring 2012 In-Service Course Catalog
This 8 hour course will provide the experienced trainer with the latest information on
Autism, Autism Spectrum Disorders, or Asperger's Syndrome. Any officer is welcome.
Persons with this developmental disability, especially young men, pose a particular
itself in dramatic and sometimes violent reactions for those who have never experienced the
social and communication challenges that each person with Autism can present.
This class, taught by team of instructors from Giant Steps, serves as an ongoing support to
law enforcement agencies in providing knowledge on the needs of persons with Autism and
their families.
This unique course will be taught both onsite and offsite. Each trainer will be given a
resource book to use for future training.
Lead instructor for this class will be Susan Hamre, Educational Coordinator, Giant Steps.
enforcement attending.
