Aim<br />
To support business start-ups by craftsmen <strong>and</strong> women in<br />
<strong>Berlin</strong>.<br />
Who?<br />
Master craftsmen <strong>and</strong> women who, within three years after<br />
passing the examination as a master craftsman or woman,<br />
establish their first own business in their trade.<br />
What?<br />
Two-stage subsidy<br />
1st stage: basic subsidy<br />
Conditionally repayable subsidy.<br />
The subsidy totals EUR 7,000.<br />
Three years after starting up, the recipient of the bonus is<br />
obliged to prove that he or she is still self-employed.<br />
Furthermore, proof must be furnished that no income was<br />
generated from employed or other self-employed activities<br />
(exceptions subject to prior approval).<br />
2nd stage: job creation bonus<br />
Another bonus of EUR 5,000 is paid if the founder proves<br />
that he or she has hired at least one employee who is registered<br />
with the social insurance company <strong>for</strong> a minimum of<br />
twelve months. A training job can be created <strong>and</strong> a trainee<br />
hired <strong>for</strong> this job as an alternative.<br />
The <strong>Subsidy</strong> Programmes Business Start-ups<br />
Meistergründungsprämie / Start-up bonus <strong>for</strong> master craftsmen <strong>and</strong> women<br />
How?<br />
Applications <strong>for</strong> basic subsidy must be submitted to the <strong>Berlin</strong><br />
Chamber of Skilled Crafts which then <strong>for</strong>wards them to<br />
the Senatsverwaltung für Wirtschaft, Technologie und Forschung<br />
(Senate Department <strong>for</strong> Business, Technology <strong>and</strong><br />
Research).<br />
The application <strong>for</strong> the job creation bonus can be submitted<br />
to the <strong>Berlin</strong> Chamber of Skilled Crafts within three years after<br />
starting up in business.<br />
Combination with other programmes, such as <strong>Berlin</strong>-Start, is<br />
possible.<br />
This programme is subject to de-minimis rules (refer to page 136).<br />
