ERP environment and energy efficiency programme
Two programme variants have been available since
1 January 2012: Programme variant A: KfW environmental
programme, Programme variant B: KfW energy
efficiency programme
Aim
Programme variant A
To support general environmental protection measures by
enterprises in the commercial sector in Germany with a private
majority shareholding
Programme variant B
To finance energy efficiency measures by enterprises in the
commercial sector in Germany (maximum consolidated
turnover of EUR 2bn)
Who?
German and foreign companies in the commercial industries.
Freelance professionals, such as physicians as well as tax advisors
Companies performing (energy-related) services for third
parties within the scope of a contracting agreement
Programme variant A
Co-operation and operator models for government and public
administration tasks (public-private-partnership models)
What?
Programme variant A
All investment projects in German contributing towards a
major improvement of the environmental situation. This
includes measures in the fields of resource efficiency/material
savings, avoidance/reduction of air pollution and noise,
waste avoidance, treatment and recycling, waste water
treatment and reduction, soil and groundwater protection
as well as rehabilitation of historical pollution and contaminated
sites.
Typical maximum sum of EUR 10m per project
Programme variant B
All investment measures in Germany that generate substantial
energy saving effects in the fields of technical systems
(heating, cooling, lighting ventilation/air conditioning,
hot-water generation), efficient energy generation, building
envelope, machinery, process cold and heat, heat recovery,
control and instrumentation systems, information and communication
technology.
The Subsidy Programmes Investment and Working Capital
Rehabilitation of existing and construction of new buildings
Costs for accompanying the planning and implementation
of energy saving investment
Replacement investment must yield energy savings of at
least 20%, new investment of at least 15%.
Typical maximum sum of EUR 25m per project for energy
efficiency measures.
Up to 100% of the investment costs eligible for support can
be financed.
The interest rate is determined by the applicant’s bank in a
risk-related manner on the basis of the debtor’s economic
situation (credit-worthiness) and the value of the collateral
provided for the loan.
The loans must be secured with customary collateral.
Support is subject to subsidy regulations which must be adhered
to by KfW and the applicant.
Programme variant A
Particularly low interest rates are available for small enterprises.
Programme variant B
Particularly low interest rates are available for small and
medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
How?
Applications must be submitted prior to commencing the
project.
A loan under the KfW environment and/or KfW energy efficiency
programme can be generally combined with other
support instruments (loans or grants/allowances) up to the
maximum sums of the relevant EU support limits on condition
that the total sum consisting of loans, allowances or
grants does not exceed the total expenditure sum.
This programme is subject to de-minimis rules (refer to page 136).
