Bombers look forward to 2011 Season
Head Coach, Ian Askew, said that he
was very excited about the team’s
prospects this year. The team’s
preparations in pre-season had gone
very well and in a recent joint training
session with leading Division 1 team
Doncaster Mustangs the Bombers had
given matched them well in all years.
Coach Askew explained that in his
first year coaching his aim had been
to build a solid defence, as similar to
regular football, teams are built on a
solid defence. Now the solid defensive
foundation was in place the focus was
to put more points on the board.
Coach Askew admitted all his coaching
team felt the pressure was on them to
show the team was moving in right
direction this year. When asked what
a good season would look like Head
Coach Askew said at least a couple of
wins would amount to good. He added
that the team would be competitive this
year and with a bit of luck it could be
a better than good year. Coach Askew
also promised anyone who comes to
watch plenty of entertainment and a
great day out.
The Bombers will not have long to find
out how much progress has been made
in pre-season as they start their season
in 3 weeks against one of the fancied
teams in the division, Lancashire
Wolverines.
General Manager, Mark ‘Tank’
Harrison confirmed that the Bombers
are encouraging anyone who wants
to help out off the field either in the
background or on game day to get
in touch. Contact details are on our
