Jets eat all the Pancakes
The Coventry Jets have teamed up
with one of their sponsors to celebrate
Shrove Tuesday with a Pancake
Eating Competition. Old Orleans are
hosting the event as part of their Mardi
Gras celebrations, the Cajun themed
restaurant’s party will tie in with the
famous Louisiana carnivals that have
been celebrated for over 3 centuries,
and funds raised from the event are
being donated to Cancer Research UK.
It’s the second time the two have
teamed up to help the same charity
recently. Late last year they combined
to offer items for an auction at a black
tie event and Restaurant Manager
Andy Heyward was delighted to have
the Jets support for both evenings. “It’s
great to have the guys on board for an
event like this, they’re a community
focused group so can always be relied
on to help out for a good cause.”
Jets’ Secretary Adam Etheridge echoed
Heyward’s sentiments “We’re always

Bombers has won £500 from NFLUK
after making the short-list of NFLUK’s
Britain’s Unsung Hero, sponsored by
Pepsi.
The first-ever NFLUK awards asked
for nominations for anyone who has
gone above and beyond the call of
duty in the past 12 months to help
the development and enjoyment of
American football in the UK and is
paid to the team. Robyn said she was

happy to get involved with fundraising
and helping out where we can.
Cancer has touched my life so I know
how important it is that we all do what
we can to help the fight against it.” The
competition gets underway at 19:30
and Etheridge thinks that the Jets will
take some beating.
“We’ve got some big lads on the team,
I wouldn’t want to get in their way
when there’s food on the table. I’m just
glad we have enough time before the
first game for them to work themselves
back into shape.” That first game
comes over the Easter weekend as the
Jets travel to Paris to tackle the much
fancied Cougars in the EFAF Cup. The
second game in the round-robin group
phase will see Coventry play host to
the Sollerod Gold Diggers at the Butts
Park Arena on Saturday the 7th of
May.

last year Robyn dealt with all the
media and marketing for the club,
negotiating sponsorship and transport,
as well as, being heavily involved in
the game day management, including
making the sandwiches!
