new formulations have been developed
for comprimates and coated tablets. In
2003, Nordzucker’s investment company
Syral in Alsace also profited from the
Nordzucker InnoCenter competence in
application technology. Moreover, in
collaboration with our customers we have
developed mixtures of sweeteners and
other formulations for specific markets.
Application Support
To be able to offer its customers in industry
a comprehensive advisory service,
Nordzucker has set up expert teams.
Each team is responsible for a specific
product category and consists of a key
account manager (sales) as well as
an applications engineer (Nordzucker
InnoCenter). Together they call on
Nordzucker customers to discuss collaboration
openings in product development,
or to assist our customers with application-specific
problems. In addition, our
customers in industry can rely on our
extensive logistics support in the technical
field.

Technology and Quality
The support provided by the Nordzucker
InnoCenter also covers technology and
quality in production, a service which is
available in connection with the production
of sugar and such specialities as
fondant or Tagatose. It is open to production
facilities both at home and
abroad. Quality assurance for laboratory
analyses was instituted for the factory
laboratories in Germany and in central
and eastern Europe.
New Fields for Innovative Use of Plants
With ‘New Fields for Innovative Use of
Plants’, the Nordzucker InnoCenter was
assigned a new area of responsibility in
2003. The main function of ‘New Fields’
will be to establish and document the
state of agricultural, economic, and technical
knowledge on specific issues of
renewable raw materials. Results will,
in particular, be made available to our
shareholders and beet farmers. ‘New
Fields’ will as a first step address the possibilities
of using biomass as a source of
energy. This information is to assist our
farmers in their decision taking process
for possible commitments in renewable
raw materials.
