1948 ASSOCIATION ROTC MEDAL VVIN:'\'ERS 47<br />

University af Minnesata: Kenneth \iV. Blackmer <strong>of</strong> Minneapolis,<br />

Minnesota. He is 27 years old and a Pharmacy<br />

student. During the war, he served three years in the Army<br />

including one year in Europe where he earned three campaign<br />

stars as a platoon sergeant in the 65th Infantry Division.<br />

He also has the Bronze Star l\ledal and Combat Infantry<br />

Badge. He belongs to three campus societies.<br />

Mississippi State Callege: Thomas H. Dantzler <strong>of</strong> Sun-<br />

Hower,Mississippi. Cadet Dantzler is 23 years old and is a<br />

Chemical Engineering student. During the war, he spent<br />

two years and five months in the Corps <strong>of</strong> Engineers and<br />

attained the rank <strong>of</strong> l\laster Sergeant. Ten months <strong>of</strong> his<br />

ser\'ice was in the ETO.<br />

University af New Hampshire: Robert E. Cook <strong>of</strong> West<br />

Nottingham, New Hampshire. Cadet Cook is 20 years old<br />

and a Mechanical Engineering student. He i~a member <strong>of</strong><br />

t\\'o honorary societies and one social fraternity:<br />

University af Pittsburgh: William Orval Keeling, Jr., <strong>of</strong><br />

f\lount Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Cadet Keeling is 24 years<br />

old. During t~e 'war, he served overseas with the 42d Infantrv<br />

Division. Besides the Bronze Star Medal, he earned<br />

two ~ampaign stars. He participated in two campus activities<br />

during the past year and belongs to a social fraternity.<br />

University <strong>of</strong> San FranciscO':Charles T. deLorimier <strong>of</strong><br />

San Francisco, California. He is 25 years old. During the<br />

war. he served oyerseas 33 months and \vas a platoon sergeantin<br />

the 24th Infantrv Division. Besidesthe Presidential<br />

Unit Citation, Combat 'Infantryman's Badge and Philippine<br />

Liberation Medal, he is entitled to three campaign<br />

stars and bronze arrowhead on his Asiatic-Pacific Theater<br />

ribbon. He is a member <strong>of</strong> one campus society.<br />

St. Mary's Universitll: Charles F. Sdw,'ab <strong>of</strong> San An-<br />

. tonio,T ex~s. Cadet Schwab is 19 years old and a Business<br />

Administration student. He is a member <strong>of</strong> one honor fraternity.<br />

Agricultural and l\Iec1umical Callege af Texas: Nathaniel<br />

R. Leatherwood <strong>of</strong> Beaumont, Texas. He is 20 vears old<br />

and a Management Engineering major. He has been a class<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficer in all four <strong>of</strong> his classes. He is both a Distinguished<br />

Scholastic and l\lilitarv Student. In addition. he has been<br />

active in four campus groups and intramural sports.<br />

Utah State Agricultural Callege: Charles V. Jarman <strong>of</strong><br />

Everett, Washington. Cadet Jarman is 23 years old and a<br />

Radio Engineering student. During the war, he served approximately<br />

four years in the Marine Corps including one<br />

and a half years in the Pacific as a communications seroeant<br />

in the 1st Marine Division. He is an outstanding academic<br />

student and attained the highest ROTC standing in the<br />

advanced class at Utah State.<br />

Virginia Polytechnic Institute: R. 1. l\liller <strong>of</strong> Harrisonburg,<br />

Virginia. Cadet Miller is pursuing rhe course in Forestrv,<br />

\Vild Life and Conservation. He is very actiw in<br />

cam'pus activities, belonging to eight different organizations<br />

and has held <strong>of</strong>fice in two.<br />

11/ashington Unirersity: Arthur J. \\7e:lich <strong>of</strong> St. Louis.<br />

Missouri. Cadet \Verlich is 20 wars old and a o-radmte <strong>of</strong><br />

, <br />

Christian Brothers College, St. Louis. He sen'ed in the<br />

Army from June 1945 to April 1947.<br />

University af Washington: James E. l\laran <strong>of</strong> Centralia,<br />

\,vashington. Cadet Moran is majoring in History. During<br />

the war, he served in the ETO with the 609th F. A. Battalion<br />

<strong>of</strong> the 71st DiYision. He entered the service in February<br />

1943 and was separated in April 1946.<br />
