d. <strong>Christ</strong>mas Gifts to Staff<br />

The staff, including Mr. Lal, who retired from the <strong>Church</strong>, were<br />

also given <strong>Christ</strong>mas gifts.<br />

e. Illumination of the <strong>Church</strong><br />

During the <strong>Christ</strong>mas season, and up to the New Year night, the<br />

entire church compound was beautifully illuminated.<br />

Reception to the New Bishop<br />

Our Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Thomas K. Oommen Thirumeni was<br />

given an enthusiastic reception in the church on November 6,<br />

<strong>2011</strong>. After the combined service at 7.45 a.m., which was led<br />

by Thirumeni, the reception function was held at 10.30 a.m.<br />

and it was attended by around 1100 members. Both Thirumeni<br />

and Kochamma spoke, expressing gratitude for the reception<br />

and gifts.<br />

After the reception programme and lunch, Thirumeni and his<br />

entourage left for Muttathara <strong>Church</strong>.<br />

<strong>Church</strong> Convention<br />

The annual Convention of the <strong>Church</strong> was held on <strong>12</strong>, 13, 14<br />

and 15 January 20<strong>12</strong> in the <strong>Church</strong>. Rev. C.B. Samuel (New<br />

Delhi) was the main speaker. The subject for all the four days<br />

was ‘Authentic Fatih’, and his speech was based on the Epistle<br />

of James. On all four days the speeches were translated into<br />

Malayalam by Br. E. Sarasam.<br />

There was a separate session for the youth on 14th January led<br />

by Rev. C.B Samuel on the subject, ‘<strong>Christ</strong>ian Life and Radical<br />

Discipleship’.<br />

Again, on the 14th , there was another session for Families<br />

conducted by Rev. M.P. Solomon, Director, Marthoma Hospital<br />

Guidance and Counselling Centre. The subject was ‘Family<br />

Enrichment – A Biblical Perspective’.<br />

<strong>Report</strong> and <strong>Annual</strong> Statement of Accounts <strong>2011</strong>-20<strong>12</strong><br />

On 15th January there was yet another programme for our Sunday<br />

school children by the CSSM, Thiruvalla, led by Rev. Shaji<br />

Jacob Thomas.<br />

The convention programmes were coordinated by Mr. C.C.<br />

Cherian Kunju, Mr. Renju Philip and Mr. A.J. Thomas. The<br />

choir was led by Adv. Rays John Koshy and Mr. Mathew<br />

Thomas. We express our sincere thanks to them. In the<br />

convention there was good participation by Achens and believers<br />

from other churches in the city. This was a welcome change<br />

from the past. Our special thanks are due to the organizers.<br />

Proficiency Prizes<br />

During the <strong>Church</strong> service on November 2, <strong>2011</strong> the following,<br />

who secured the highest marks / grades in the Std. X and Std.<br />

XII examinations held during 2010-11 academic year, were<br />

awarded Proficiency Prizes.<br />

Transfers of Achens<br />

The <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong> was a year of changes in the <strong>Church</strong>. Rev. Daniel<br />

George Achen was transferred to the Holy Trinity Cathedral <strong>Church</strong><br />

in May <strong>2011</strong> after his exemplary service of 3 years in the <strong>Church</strong>.<br />

Achen was given a warm send-off and gifts on May 22.<br />

Rev. Raju Jacob Achen joined us in May as Vicar on transfer<br />

from Toronto, Canada. Rev. Sumod C. Cherian Achen also<br />

joined us as Asst. Vicar in May from Bahrain.<br />
