d. Christmas Gifts to Staff
The staff, including Mr. Lal, who retired from the Church, were
also given Christmas gifts.
e. Illumination of the Church
During the Christmas season, and up to the New Year night, the
entire church compound was beautifully illuminated.
Reception to the New Bishop
Our Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Thomas K. Oommen Thirumeni was
given an enthusiastic reception in the church on November 6,
2011. After the combined service at 7.45 a.m., which was led
by Thirumeni, the reception function was held at 10.30 a.m.
and it was attended by around 1100 members. Both Thirumeni
and Kochamma spoke, expressing gratitude for the reception
and gifts.
After the reception programme and lunch, Thirumeni and his
entourage left for Muttathara Church.
Church Convention
The annual Convention of the Church was held on 12, 13, 14
and 15 January 2012 in the Church. Rev. C.B. Samuel (New
Delhi) was the main speaker. The subject for all the four days
was ‘Authentic Fatih’, and his speech was based on the Epistle
of James. On all four days the speeches were translated into
Malayalam by Br. E. Sarasam.
There was a separate session for the youth on 14th January led
by Rev. C.B Samuel on the subject, ‘Christian Life and Radical
Discipleship’.
Again, on the 14th , there was another session for Families
conducted by Rev. M.P. Solomon, Director, Marthoma Hospital
Guidance and Counselling Centre. The subject was ‘Family
Enrichment – A Biblical Perspective’.

On 15th January there was yet another programme for our Sunday
school children by the CSSM, Thiruvalla, led by Rev. Shaji
Jacob Thomas.
The convention programmes were coordinated by Mr. C.C.
Cherian Kunju, Mr. Renju Philip and Mr. A.J. Thomas. The
choir was led by Adv. Rays John Koshy and Mr. Mathew
Thomas. We express our sincere thanks to them. In the
convention there was good participation by Achens and believers
from other churches in the city. This was a welcome change
from the past. Our special thanks are due to the organizers.
Proficiency Prizes
During the Church service on November 2, 2011 the following,
who secured the highest marks / grades in the Std. X and Std.
XII examinations held during 2010-11 academic year, were
awarded Proficiency Prizes.

Transfers of Achens
The 2011-12 was a year of changes in the Church. Rev. Daniel
George Achen was transferred to the Holy Trinity Cathedral Church
in May 2011 after his exemplary service of 3 years in the Church.
Achen was given a warm send-off and gifts on May 22.
Rev. Raju Jacob Achen joined us in May as Vicar on transfer
from Toronto, Canada. Rev. Sumod C. Cherian Achen also
joined us as Asst. Vicar in May from Bahrain.
