Financial position and future Needs
Abraham Jacob, Lay Treasurer
Christ Church has been in existance for over 153 years. It is
God’s will that our Church stand out in a prime locality in the
city. We have grown with the time and the future holds out good
tidings for us. As we read in Genesis, God has bestowed what
we have upon us with a rider, “Know that I am God. I am
entrusting you with what I have created. What you hold is mine.
Take good care of all that have been gifted to you.”
We have always been in the forefront to provide support to
mission work, social service, development of rural churches
and mission houses of our diocese and any other activity that
necessitated our intervention. By the Grace of God we have
been proactive to such an extent that our intervention has brought
good cheers to many who never knew where to look to for
assistance.
As we look ahead we have several tasks. While we have to
persist with what we have been doing with no let up, we have
to take care of all that God has entrusted us with. The Church
is in need of major repairs. Our consultations reveal that the
bell tower needs repairs before the onset of monsoon. It is
evident that there are leaks that seep through the wall threatening
a collapse. Termites are eating away the rafters and battens.
There are cracks on the beams. Broken tiles necessitate
replacement. Extension of the Porch on the south and building
of a porch on the north can provide accommodation to the
worshippers who are unable to find a place inside the Church.
The preliminary estimate that has been handed over to us put
the probable expenditure at Rs. 25 lacs.
