Food for the Needy Programme
The programme was commenced on 01st September 2006 and
is completing 6 years in September 2012. Under the programme,
free noon meals are provided to poor patients or their bystanders
in the Govt. Hospital, Peroorkada. Accordingly 100 meals were
being provided every day of the year except Sundays and Good
Friday. The programme has continued uninterrupted. But in
recent months we have discovered that only about about 75
persons on an average line up each day for these free meals.
Accordingly, the number of meals provided is reduced from
100 to 75 from March 2012. The cost of the remaining 25 meals
is being given to the Fort Mission Girls High School, to provide
nutritious food to poor students, as part of our City Mission
Project. This programme commenced in March 2012 and an
amount of Rs. 10,000/- has already been disbursed to the school.
The amount we have spent so far for the Food for the Needy
Programme is Rs. 24.93 lacs.
