We do not have the finance as it stands today. While we can
hide behind the argument that lack of provisions in the past has
led us to the crisis, we have to acknowledge that nobody can
ever predict or foresee what an ancient structure will develop
into in 153 years.
While refurbishing the existing structure we are preserving a
great heritage that God has entrusted with us. We have convened
a series of meetings with the large number of engineers we have.
There have been consultations with engineers and architects
who are not our members. They are in unison that the building
needs repairs and that whatever is carried out should in no way
harm the architectural marvel that we are blessed with.
The income we generate is basically through monthly
subscription, offerings and Sunday offertory. The diocese
mandates remittance of 50% of the income and the diocese had
assessed our income for 2011-2012 as Rs.886745.00 and we
had remitted Rs.563655.00 during 2011- 2012 to the diocese
excluding permissible waivers.
The diocese permits us exemption from the central fund
remittance if we disburse the income from our Harvest Festival
on specific projects. Central fund is excluded on specific
collections like projects initiated by the diocese or on projects
or for organizations that have approval from the diocese.
We have on hand the following projects.
1. Major repairs to the Church and refurbishment.
2. Essential maintenance of the Centenary Hall
3. Construction of the Compound Wall at the Mission
House property at Muttathara
4. Construction of a new Mission House at the Church
Compound at Muttathara. The existing Mission House
is beyond repairs.
174
5. Construction of a Common Vault at Muttathara
Cemetery to provide 300 vaults for burial - 250 Vaults
for Christ Church and 50 Vaults for Muttathara Church.
We are left with limited space in our Cemetery for our
future needs.
6. Establishment of Nursery School at Karali
7. City Mission Projects.
The bicentenary of our diocese is on the anvil – 2016. The
projects at items 3 to 6 have been approved by the Adoor District
Council on the recommendations of the Pastorate Committee
and the Church Committees as our Bicentenary Projects.
As the Diocese is initiating several Projects for the upliftment
of the indigent we have been advised that our participation is
essential in the Diocesan Projects. In anticipation of the demand
upon us in the year 2016 we have opened a Recurring Deposit
account in the Federal Bank Ltd, Nanthencode for Rs. 10000.00
in April 2012 so that we will be in a position to meet the
requirement without hassles.
In addition to what has been stated, we have to meet mounting
establishment expenses. We are expected carry out a Salary
Revision for our staff every five years and the Salary is being
revised from April.2012. The appointment of a new Gardener/
Sweeper is to take effect from April 2012. The budget for the
year 2012-2013 is presented with an overview of our needs and
financial inadequacies. We urge our members to support us
through enhancement of monthly subscription, other offerings
and specific contributions to fulfill the projects envisaged for
the glory of God.
