HEPTACODIUM MICINOIDES - This very hardy shrub<br />

has dark green leaves that turn yellow in the fall. Flowers are<br />

small and white followed by attractive fruit. Bark exfoliates<br />

H. 'TOSCA' - (H. mutabilis x H. syriacus). This hybrid<br />

by Jim Snyder is a deep rich orchid color with a red eye. This<br />

rose of sharon makes an excellent display during summer.<br />

Hybrided in France at Minier Nurseries, this dark<br />

pink hibiscus has a red center. This plant is hardy<br />

HOSTA<br />

H. 'BLUE MOUSE EARS' . Any garden can add this<br />

petite little plant among rocks, along paths, in pots, or<br />

innumerable places. When we see hostas we are always drawn<br />

to H. 'Blue Mouse Ears' for its 2-3" height and sweet little<br />

mousy blue leaves. We think you will like H. 'Blue Mouse<br />

H. 'SUM & SUBSTANCE' . A GIANT that can get 6'<br />

across here. The yellow leaves are long and pointed and will<br />

be unfriendly to slugs. We have to bait all of our hostas, but<br />

really don't have to bait H. 'Sum & Substance'. for a real focal<br />

point, try this great plant in your shade garden.<br />

H. 'THUNDER BOLT' has deep green leaves along the<br />

outside and a rich golden yellow splash in the center. This<br />

hosta is a real show stopper in any garden.<br />

HYDRANGEA - Alphabetized by name with "m" =<br />

macrophylla, "p"= paniculata, "q"= quercifolia, "s" = serrata.<br />

H. ARBORESCENS 'ANNABELLE' - Huge, white<br />

mop headed flowers on a shrubby 4' foot suckering plant.<br />

H. ASPERA 'MACROPHYLLA' -ultimate foliage.<br />

We have seen 3' plants in containers with consistant water<br />

with leaves over 1' long and 8" wide. The leaves are deep<br />

green and can have multiple colors like purple and reddish<br />

within the leaf. Each leaf is covered in fine hairs creating a<br />

fuzzy look to the leaves. The flowers are 8-10" across and are<br />

light lavender lace caps in late July.<br />

H. ASPERA 'VILLOSA' - The narrowest leaf of any of<br />

the H. aspera group. Our plant is 10' tall and 8' wide after 25<br />

years. The lavender flowers appear in late August into<br />

September. The plant will be much more open in the shade<br />

H. m 'AYESHA' - Perhaps the strangest of all hydrangeas.<br />

The flowers are in large clusters of thickened florets. It's hard<br />

to deescribe, but the florets have a leathery feel and can be<br />

blue or pink depending on soil. H. 'Ayesha' seems to be<br />

slightly more tender than most H. macrophylla varieties. Our<br />

plant will freeze every 4-5 years, but come back quickly and<br />

HYDRANGEA s 'BLUE BILLOW' - This low growing<br />

H. serrata has lots of fertile flowers so the flower head has a<br />

soft hazy look. Our plants are 18" tall and 36" across.<br />

H. s 'FUJI WATERFALL' - 'Fuji Waterfall' has light<br />

pink or blue showy double flowers in July. A small 3-4' shrub<br />

H. m 'HARLEQUIN' - This mophead hydrangea has<br />

large dark pink florets margined by white. This hydrangea is<br />

an exciting flowering plant for the woodland garden.<br />

H. p 'HAYES STARBURST' - Double star-shaped<br />

flowers appear on this H. arborescens 'Radiata' cultivar. The<br />

white flowers form a good sized dome head in summer.<br />

hydrangea has large sterile flowers surrounded by tiny fertile<br />

flowers. Our plant is upright, about 6' tall and 2' across.<br />

H. m 'LEMON WAVE' - Similar to H. 'Quadricolor',<br />

but grows for us whereas 'Quadricolor' slowly dies. Very nice<br />

foliage variegation with green, yellow and cream.<br />

H. p 'LIMELIGHT (ppaf) - Hybridized by the great<br />

Dutch nurseryman Pieter Zwijnenburg, Jr. This hydrangea<br />

paniculata has lime green flowers on a large shrub. This new<br />

plant is a real show stopper in the garden. H. 'Limelight' will<br />

also make a good cut flower. 1 gal $ 16.00<br />

H. p 'LITTLE LAMB' - (PPAF) This hybrid from the<br />

late Jelena De Belder (Hamamelis 'Jelena') has very small<br />

white florets that look like lamb's wool in the plant. Another<br />

very hardy hydrangea even for some of the coldest parts of the<br />

H. s 'MIDORIBOSHI-TAMERI' - A small growing H.<br />

serrata with small flower clusters of pink or blue. The florets<br />

are double and dangle attractively from the stems.<br />

H. s 'MIYAMA-YAE-MURASKI' -This is another<br />

double H. serrata to add to a wonderful group of doubles.<br />

Discovered in 1950 by Takeshi Seto in Miyama in Japan. This<br />

is a nice H. serrata for the summer garden.<br />

H. m 'NIGRA' - Grown for its black stems , well , really<br />

deep dark purple. The flowers are foliage are typical<br />

hydrangea macrophylla. The combination of black stems,<br />

deep green foliage and pink-purple flowers is very attractive.<br />

H. PETIOLARIS 'MIRANDA' - This climbing<br />

hydrangea has small, dark green leaves that are widely<br />

margined with golden yellow. In the spring and early summer<br />

the plant has a golden glow to it. We have Guy & Jeannie<br />

HYDRANGEA PETIOLARIS 'PLATT DWARF' -<br />

Please note the change of the name. We have been selling this<br />

plant as 'Schizophragma 'Platt's Dwarf'. We have talked to<br />

several knowledgable experts and they say this fine plant is<br />

actually a climbing hydrangea. The original plant at Jane<br />

Platt's garden was a very small deciduous vine.<br />
