HEPTACODIUM MICINOIDES - This very hardy shrub has dark green leaves that turn yellow in the fall. Flowers are small and white followed by attractive fruit. Bark exfoliates year round. Introducted from China. 1 gal. $ 14.00 HIBISCUS H. 'TOSCA' - (H. mutabilis x H. syriacus). This hybrid by Jim Snyder is a deep rich orchid color with a red eye. This rose of sharon makes an excellent display during summer. 1 gal. $ 14.00 H. 'VIOLET SATIN' - (H. s. Floru PP 12,196 ) Hybrided in France at Minier Nurseries, this dark pink hibiscus has a red center. This plant is hardy and easy to grow. 1 gal. $ 14.00 HOSTA H. 'BLUE MOUSE EARS' . Any garden can add this petite little plant among rocks, along paths, in pots, or innumerable places. When we see hostas we are always drawn to H. 'Blue Mouse Ears' for its 2-3" height and sweet little mousy blue leaves. We think you will like H. 'Blue Mouse Ears' as well. 1 gal. $ 10.00 H. 'SUM & SUBSTANCE' . A GIANT that can get 6' across here. The yellow leaves are long and pointed and will be unfriendly to slugs. We have to bait all of our hostas, but really don't have to bait H. 'THUNDER BOLT' has deep green leaves along the outside and a rich golden yellow splash in the center. This hosta is a real show stopper in any garden. 1 gal. $ 12.00 HYDRANGEA - Alphabetized by name with "m" = macrophylla, "p"= paniculata, "q"= quercifolia, "s" = serrata. H. ARBORESCENS 'ANNABELLE' - Huge, white mop headed flowers on a shrubby 4' foot suckering plant. Named by Joe McDaniel. 1 gal. $ 14.00 H. ASPERA 'MACROPHYLLA' -ultimate foliage. We have seen 3' plants in containers with consistant water with leaves over 1' long and 8" wide. The leaves are deep green and can have multiple colors like purple and reddish within the leaf. Each leaf is covered in fine hairs creating a fuzzy look to the leaves. The flowers are 8-10" across and are light lavender lace caps in late July. 1 gal. $ 25.00 H. ASPERA 'VILLOSA' - The narrowest leaf of any of the H. aspera group. Our plant is 10' tall and 8' wide after 25 years. The lavender flowers appear in late August into September. The plant will be much more open in the shade than in the sun. LIMITED 1 gal. $ 22.00 H. m 'AYESHA' - Perhaps the strangest of all hydrangeas. The flowers are in large clusters of thickened florets. It's hard to deescribe, but the florets have a leathery feel and can be blue or pink depending on soil. H. 'Ayesha' seems to be slightly more tender than most H. macrophylla varieties. Our plant will freeze every 4-5 years, but come back quickly and bloom the next year. 1 gal. $ 15.00 14 HYDRANGEA s 'BLUE BILLOW' - This low growing H. serrata has lots of fertile flowers so the flower head has a soft hazy look. Our plants are 18" tall and 36" across. 1 gal. $ 15.00 H. s 'FUJI WATERFALL' - 'Fuji Waterfall' has light pink or blue showy double flowers in July. A small 3-4' shrub even in the smallest garden. 1 gal. $ 15.00 H. m 'HARLEQUIN' - This mophead hydrangea has large dark pink florets margined by white. This hydrangea is an exciting flowering plant for the woodland garden. 1 gal. $15.00 H. p 'HAYES STARBURST' - Double star-shaped flowers appear on this H. arborescens 'Radiata' cultivar. The white flowers form a good sized dome head in summer. 1 gal. $ 15.00 H. m ' LANARTH WHITE' - This white lacecap hydrangea has large sterile flowers surrounded by tiny fertile flowers. Our plant is upright, about 6' tall and 2' across. H. 'Lanarth White' seems to be very hardy here. 1 gal. $ 15.00 H. m 'LEMON WAVE' - Similar to H. 'Quadricolor', but grows for us whereas 'Quadricolor' slowly dies. Very nice foliage variegation with green, yellow and cream. 1 gal. $ 15.00 H. p 'LIMELIGHT (ppaf) - Hybridized by the great Dutch nurseryman Pieter Zwijnenburg, Jr. This hydrangea paniculata has lime green flowers on a large shrub. This new plant is a real show stopper in the garden. H. 'Limelight' will also make a good cut flower. 1 gal $ 16.00 H. p 'LITTLE LAMB' - (PPAF) This hybrid from the late Jelena De Belder (Hamamelis 'Jelena') has very small white florets that look like lamb's wool in the plant. Another very hardy hydrangea even for some of the coldest parts of the country. 1 gal. $ 16.00 H. s 'MIDORIBOSHI-TAMERI' - A small growing H. serrata with small flower clusters of pink or blue. The florets are double and dangle attractively from the stems. 1 gal. $ 16.00 H. s 'MIYAMA-YAE-MURASKI' -This is another double H. serrata to add to a wonderful group of doubles. Discovered in 1950 by Takeshi Seto in Miyama in Japan. This is a nice H. serrata for the summer garden. 1 gal. $ 16.00 H. m 'NIGRA' - Grown for its black stems , well , really deep dark purple. The flowers are foliage are typical hydrangea macrophylla. The combination of black stems, deep green foliage and pink-purple flowers is very attractive. 1 gal. $ 18.00 H. PETIOLARIS 'MIRANDA' - This climbing hydrangea has small, dark green leaves that are widely margined with golden yellow. In the spring and early summer the plant has a golden glow to it. We have Guy & Jeannie Mitchum to thank for this fine vine for the shaded garden. 1 gal. $ 12.00 HYDRANGEA PETIOLARIS 'PLATT DWARF' - Please note the change of the name. We have been selling this plant as 'Schizophragma 'Platt's Dwarf'. We have talked to several knowledgable experts and they say this fine plant is actually a climbing hydrangea. The original plant at Jane Platt's garden was a very small deciduous vine. 1 gal. $ 12.00
H. m 'PIA' - This mop headed hydrangea is under appreciated by many gardeners. This dwarf hydrangea gets up to two feet tall. The small rounded flowers can be pink, purple, or blue. Pia always makes a good impression when people see it in person. 1 gal. $ 12.00 H. s 'PREZIOSA' - A moderate growing, mopheaded hydrangea. The flowers can be pink purple or blue depending on soil type. We have seen the same plant with 3 different colored flowers. The faded flowers turn an attractive red in late summer. 1 gal. $ 15.00 H. QUERCIFOLIA 'ALICE' - Selected by Michael Dirr as a robust and strong grower. The panicles of white flowers can get to 12" long. As with all oakleaf hydrangeas the foliage is handsome spring to fall. 1 gal. $ 15.00 H. QUERCIFOLIA 'LITTLE HONEY' - This small growing oakleaf hydrangea will only get 2-3' tall. The great reason to grow H. q. 'Little Honey' is its handsome golden yellow leaves. It doesn't seem to make any difference as to shade or sun to keep the color of the golden leaves. The flowers are the typical white during summer. Try this new selection for the dash of golden foliage. 1 gal. $ 20.00 H. QUERCIFOLIA 'SIKES DWARF' - Is a smaller (3-4') oakleaf hydrangea. The flowers are white and are of a similar size to other quercifolias. The plant is bushier and smaller growing. 1 gal. $16.00 H. QUERCIFOLIA 'SNOWFLAKE' - Has arching flowers that are fully double white. Blooms for weeks in July-September then dries a dusty coppery brown. Plant gets 4'-5' tall and has beautiful purple, red, orange fall color.. 1 gal. $ 16.00 H. QUERCIFOLIA 'SNOW QUEEN' - The flowers are creamy-white up to 12" long. The flowers are the best of any H. quercifolia we've seen. Fall color is rich red-purple. If you don't have this plant, try it, you'll like it. 2 gal. $ 22.00 H. p 'QUICK FIRE' - (H. Bulk ppaf). This selection from plantsman Mark Bulk, Holland, has pink flowers a month before H. p. 'Pink Diamond'. We haven't had the plant bloom yet, but plants from Mark Bulk have been excellent. 1 gal. $ 15.00 H. s 'TIARA' - Our original plant came from Hedgerows <strong>Nursery</strong> in McMinnville, OR and is a small (2-3') grower. The single blue flower clusters are 3-4" across and very graceful. 1 gal. $ 16.00 H. p 'WHITE DOME' - This H. arborescens selection has large domes of white fertile flowers and a few sterile florets. This new hydrangea will make a handsome shrub for your garden. 1 gal. $ 15.00 H. p 'WHITE MOTH' - The giant of this group. The white flowers have large white sterile florets which will make soccer ball sized heads. Our plant is 8-10' and is striking when it blooms in mid summer. 1 gal. $ 20.00 HYPERICUM ' H. 'BLUE VELVET' - (H X fflpc-l PPAF). This is a shrubby St Johns wort with blue narrow foliage all spring - fall. The yellow flowers are a bonus during summer. H. 'Blue Velvet' comes to us from Paul Cappiello at Yewdell Gardens in Crestwood, KY. (See Paul and Don Shadow's Dogwood book) 1 gal. $ 10.00 15 HYPERICUM 'PURPLE FOUNTAIN' - A shrubby St Johns wort has narrow light purple green leaves. The upright growth to 3' will become arching as the newer growth occurs. The small yellow flowers occur in early summer. This is not a ground cover, but a pretty shrub. P.S. We haven't ever had any rust on this plant and some others such as H. 'Albury Purple' were covered with rust. 2 gal. $ 14.00 ILEX I. CRENATA ' DROPS OF GOLD' - PP # 14420- Discovered by Ronald Byrnes in Ohio. This bushy holly has bright yellow new growth in spring and early summer. The gold is followed by smoky yellow all summer - winter. 1 gal. $ 10.00 I. CRENATA 'DWARF PAGODA' - Teeny leaves are dark green on the 6 foot plant. Our plant is 3' tall after 25 years. Didn't sell until our stock plants got to be 1 foot or more. Plants we are selling are smaller 4 year old rooted cuttings. A great conversation piece. 1 gal. $ 10.00 I. CRENTATA 'GEISHA' - We recently saw this holly and were taken by the tiny convex glossy leaves. This small grower will make an attractive shrub for the border. 1 gal. $ 10.00 I. 'LEMON GEM' - This low grower has lemon colored leaves all year round. Any leaves exposed to the sun are golden, but the shaded leaves are green creating a variegated effect. This hardy easy plant would make a nice color splash in the rock garden. 1 gal. $ 10.00 I. 'SKY PENCIL' - Everyone seems to be looking for vertical plants that are evergreen, but not coniferus. Our original plants are 8 feet tall by 1 foot wide. small 1 gal. $ 8.00 ILLICIUM I. ANISATUM - We originally saw this fine plant at Jane Platt's garden in Portland back in the '70's. We have grown I. anisatum in our garden since. Our plant is 6' tall and 4' across. Our mature plant has been to 0° F. at least twice with no damage. The flowers appear in spring and are small white star shaped flowers with the evergreen leaves as an attractive background. 1 gal. $ 14.00 I. FLORIDANUM - The Florida anise shrub is an evergreen plant with deep green foliage. Our plant is perhaps 7-8' tall and 4' across. The flowers are dark mahogany purple and have many petals. Our plant has been below 0° F. twice with no damage. We grow I. floridanum with mixed shrubs or perennials. Can grow with limited water in the southeast. 1 gal. $ 14.00 I. FLORIDANUM ALBUM - The white form of the species that is actually creamy color. Again, very hardy and an easy plant to grow. 1 gal. $ 14.00 ITEA . I. ILLICIFOLIA - The holly leaf itea has crinkled evergreen leaves with soft spines. Flowers are one foot long and are greenish. The semi hardy plant for coastal California, Oregon and Washington makes a shrub but can be trained as a vine. 1 gal. $ 15.00 I. 'LITTLE HENRY' - (Itea virginiana 'Sprich' pp 10,988). This sweet spire has white flowers in summer that are sweetly scented. The fall color is a rich red-purple. This hardy shrub will add a nice dash of color in early summer and in October. 1 gal. $ 10.00
