ARISAEMA CANDIDISSIMIM - The latest of the<br />

jack in the pulpits to emerge. The lovely pink flowers are<br />

borne in June followed by large glossy leaves.<br />

ASARUM<br />

A. MAXIMUM - Chocolate-purple flowers are like velvet<br />

in spring. The glossy leaves get to 6" tall and rich flowers are<br />

like some strange moth hiding under the leaves.<br />

A. SPLENDENS - This wild ginger has glorious<br />

evergreen leaves with silver marking. Worth growing just for<br />

the foliage but the brown flowers are totally weird to look at<br />

ASPLENIUM TRICHOMANES A native all over the<br />

northern hemisphere and is an extraordinarily hardy small<br />

fern. This little clump fore former will get all of 8" tall with<br />

fine textured fronds. Grows well in a rock garden in excellent<br />

drainage or under our greenhouse propagation benches with<br />

heavy moisture year round. People always ask for some<br />

plants, so we are finally offering plants in the catalog.<br />

AUCUBA 'ROZANNIE' - This evergreen shrub is THE<br />

plant for that dark spot in your garden. Aucuba 'Rozannie' has<br />

glossy dark green foliage. The fruits are large and bright red.<br />

AZARA<br />

A. MICROPHYLLA -Teeny leaves with wavy margins.<br />

This azara has very glossy dark green leaves. In winter the<br />

evergreen leaves are complimented by vanilla scented golden<br />

yellow flowers. Hardy to perhaps 0° F. Can freeze down but<br />

BAPTISIA<br />

B. 'CAROLINA MOONLIGHT' - This soft yellow false<br />

indigo makes a mounding plant up to 2' X 2'. Once<br />

established B. 'Carolina Moonlight' is extremely hardy and<br />

long lived. Never needs to be divided or fussed with. This is<br />

essentially a perennial lupine with 2' tall flowers.<br />

BERBERIS<br />

B. 'AMSTELVEEN' - A 2-3 foot evergreen barberry with<br />

an arching habit. The outer stems slightly cascade. The<br />

glossy green leaves have a beautiful tomentum on the<br />

undersides. Flowers are light yellow.<br />

B. CALLIANTHA - This evergreen barberry has dark<br />

green foliage with silvery tomentum. The flowers are yellow<br />

X 2 feet in 15 years. The evergreen leaves are tiny dark green<br />

leaves. The leaves make the perfect foil for the rich orangish<br />

BERBERIS 'PIRATE KING' - The more we grow<br />

barberries the more we want to grow. Don't worry about the<br />

thorns. The main time the thorns are a problem is during the<br />

growing in the nursery or planting them. B. 'Pirate King' is<br />

deciduous with small yellow flowers, followed by superb<br />

bright pink fruit in fall. The more fall color we can have in the<br />

garden the better we can enjoy our gardens through the year.<br />

B. 'RED JEWEL' will grow to 2-3' tall in time. The<br />

glossy reddish purple foliage is evergreen so will make show<br />

3' in 1996. (A really tough plant).<br />

B. THUNBERGII 'BAGATELLE' - A purple cushion of<br />

foliage. The foliage is bright purple and turns flaming scarlet<br />

B. THUNBERGII 'HELMOND PILLAR' - We hope<br />

wefinally have enough of this superb plant. The European<br />

introduction is strictly columnar 2' X 6' tall. Makes a great<br />

focal point in the perennial border or rock garden with its dark<br />

B. THUNBERGII 'LIME GLOW' - A golden version of<br />

B. 'Rose Glow'. B. 'Lime Glow' has splashed golden leaves<br />

on a 3' shrub. Has attractive fall color as well as all spring<br />

B. THUNBERGII 'RED CHIEF' - This 6-7' barberry<br />

has glossy deep maroon leaves. Our plant has rich shiny<br />

foliage on its own or can be beautifully integrated into a<br />

B. THUNBERGII 'ROYAL CLOAK' -This large purple<br />

leafed large plant grows up to 8' tall. The leaves are deep dark<br />

purple and at a distance look like Cotinus 'Royal Purple'.<br />
