BERBERIS 'WILSONI ACE'. Not as small as we originally read. This 3-5' shrub is very distinctive with its small gray green leaves. In fall the gray leaves will turn all shades of pink, yellow and red. This plant looks great as a backdrop for B. thunbergii 'Concorde' 1 gal $ 14.00 BERGENIA 'APPLE BLOSSOM' - This glossy evergreen perennial has white and pink flowers in early spring. Bergenia 'Apple Blossom' will slowly spread into beautiful clumps. Many bergenias can be used as borders in gravel gardens such as Beth Chatto's dry garden. 1 gal. $ 12.00 BLECHNUM CORDATUM - (chiliense). A South American deer fern that has giant leaves. We got this beautiful fern from Judith Jones in WA years ago. The new growth is rusty color and changes to deep green. The evergreen leaves can get to 4-5' in time. Our plant has slowly spread to 5' wide. Needs shade, moisture and not too much cold (10° F.). VERY LIMITED 1 gal. $ 20.00 BRUNNERA 'LOOKING GLASS' - is essentially a perennial foget-me-not that has heart shaped leaves. The foliage is silver colored all spring-fall and makes a beautiful combination with ferns and other shade garden plants. The small blue flowers are carried in sprays in early spring. 1 gal. $ 15.00 BUDDLEJA 'LORICATA' - This small grower gets only 2- 3' tall. Our plant is in blazing full day sun and thrives. The leaves are dark green with silver under the leaves. The foliage creates a pretty small plant and the flowers are small and creamy white in early summer. We haven't seen any seedlings in our garden, whereas as many buddleja species are rampant seeders. 1 gal $ 10.00 BUXUS B. 'GRAHAM BLANDY' - This columner boxwood gets up to 8' tall and 2' wide. Our biggest plant is 5' x 1' so makes a great focal point for this perennial border or shaded border. Needs some afternoon shade. 1 gal. $ 10.00 B. 'WATERFALL' - As the name implies, this dark green boxwood is a semi weeping form which could be staked up or allowed to irregularly grow to 3-4'. Would be nice falling over and around a large rock or wall. 1 gal. $ 12.00 B. SEMPERVIRENS 'VARIEGATA'-Eventually this boxwood gets to 8' to 10' tall. We use this variegated foliage for flower arrangements year round. Grows well in full shade or almost full sun. 1 gal. $ 10.00 2 gal. $ 15.00 CALLICARPA 'PROFUSION' - Every year we are more impressed with this beautiful, fruited plant. The green foliage appears in April followed in July by purple flowers. By October the berries turn purple and the foliage turns yellow. The lustrous purple fruit hold on all winter (until March). Best planted with a light backdrop such as a weathered fence. The flowers are darker purple than lavender here. The flowers are carried around the stems and will have growth further beyond the flowers sounds wierd, but it is actually beautiful and will do well as a container plant as we grow it. 1 gal. $ 15.00 CALYCANTHUS C CHINENSIS - This rarely offered shrub has large, broad, green leaves. The foliage has very heavy veining and looks evergreen even though it isn't. This recently introduced plant has white flowers with white thick-textured petals. The flowers look somewhat like a single camellia in June. 1 gal. $ 15.00 2 gal. $ 25.00 C. FLORIDUS 'ATHENS' ( Catherine ?). We will use C. 'Athens' as that is how we received the plant. The normal C. floridus has maroon purple flowers in early summer. C. f. 'Athens' has greenish yellow flowers about an inch and one-half wide that have cantelope fragrance. 1 gal. $18.00 C. 'VENUS' - This hybrid of calycanthus and sinocalycanthus has white flowers in June and July. The flowers look very much like Magnolia stellata in form but are slightly smaller. The shrubby form has deep green leaves to backup the creamy white flowers. C. 'Venus' is an interesting new hybrid for the summer garden. 1 gal. $ 22.00 CAMELLIA All of our camelias are grown from our own stock plants so have no problem from diseases. C. 'ANTICIPATION' Similar to C. 'Donation' but much showier large 6" ruffled deep pink flowers. C. 'Anticipation' is a more upright and robust grower than C. 'Donation 1 gal. $ 20.00 C. 'BLACK OPEL' - We have this handsome plant again briefly, so don't wait long. The camellia has jagged margins on the dark evergreen leaves. The flowers in March - April are the deepest black maroon. The flowers are single and really show up against the glossy foliage. 1 gal. $ 22.00 C. 'BOB'S TINSIE' - We don't know who bob is , but whoever he is he had a neat camellia named for him. Our plant grows in full sun most of the day and is 8' X 2' with deep green oval foliage. The deep red flowers are about 3" across and have a large central base of red stamens. We enjoy this camellia all year for its glossy foliage and red flowers. 1 gal. $ 22.00 C. 'BRIGADOON' is darker color like C. 'Anticipation' but the petals are very ruffled and even larger. C. 'Brigadoon' has been hardy to 0° F. here. 1 gal. $ 20.00 C. JAPONICA 'UNRYU' - This fun camellia grows upright to possibly 6'. The foliage is typical C. japonica and the flowers are light red in early spring. However the main reason to grow C. j. 'Unryu' is for the contorted stems. The stems twist at 45° angles, which makes an interesting form. 1 gal. $ 20.00 C. 'JURY'S YELLOW' - Not exactly yellow, but a rich cream flower covers this upright camellia. C. Camellia 'Jury's Yellow' (cont.) 'Jury's Yellow' off and on for years and we regularly get compliments on its beauty from customers. 1 gal. $ 20.00 C. 'NIGHT RIDER' We hope we have enough of this beautiful foliage plant. It's flowers are small (1 1/2") and are deep purple but it's the deep purple foliage in the springsummer. Our 'Night Rider' is only 4' tall after 15 years and would make a handsome container plant. When we've had plants of C. 'Night Rider' aavailable in the nursery or at sales they always sell out. 1 gal. $ 20.00 C. 'WATERLILY' is an upright growing camellia with deep pink flowers. The individual flowers are different than any other camellia we've seen. The center petals hold together so we don't see the stamens. The cup shaped semi-double petals make an interesting looking flower. 1 gal. $ 20.00 C. WILLIANSII 'DONATION' - The finest of all the camellias we grow. The shrub has a rich green foliage and an upright habit. The flowers start late February and continue till mid May. The flowers are soft pink with slightly darker veins. Can grow in almost full sun here. This is a superb plant for the garden. 1 gal. $ 15.00 2 gal. $ 18.00 CAREX 'SPARKLER' - This sedge has palm-like foliage. Our plants have grown to 12-16" tall and are attractive green and white variegated foliage. Grows well in semi shade and is very attractive planted near water. 1 gal. $ 9.00 CARIOPTERIS C. 'GRAND BLUE' - Clandonensis (Inoveris PPAF) A dark leafed form of cariopteris from France. The deep blue flowers in summer will really show up against the dark foliage. Grow in full sun for best bloom and bushiest plant. 1 gal. $ 8.00 C. 'SUNSHINE BLUE' - (C. incanna 'Jason' PPAF) Discovered and named by Peter Champion from England. This rich golden yellow foliaged sub-shrub will get to 3' tall. The blue flowers will glow against the yellow foliage. 1 gal. $ 8.00 CARPENTERIA 'ELIZABETH' - Named for the late Elizabeth Mc Clintock of San Francisco. This excellent native shrub has been hardy here since the 70's. The narrow evergreen leaves are a good background for the snow white 2" flowers. The stamens are rich egg yolk yellow in late spring. 1 gal. $ 22.00 CEPHALANTHUS 'SPUTNIK' - Button Bush. This American native was found in Okalahoma by Steve Bieberich of Sunshine <strong>Nursery</strong>. C. 'Sputnik' has large white-pink flowers with long white stamens in summer. A tough, easy to grow native to about 8-10 ' tall. 1 gal. $ 12.00 CERCIDIPHYLLUM C. 'GRACEFUL GRACE' - This katsura tree came to us from Louisville, KY, through the tree planter extraordinaire, Mike Heyman. Mike showed us this large weeping tree when we went to Louisville several years ago. C. 'Graceful Grace' will get 30-40', so not for the small garden but an incredible tree for the large garden or park. 2 gal. $ 45.00 5 CERCIDIPHYLLUM 'HERONSWOOD GLOBE'. Chosen by Dan Hinkley for its smaller size as compared to C. japonicum. This is a round tree to perhaps 25' in time. The leaves are round and light green all summer. In fall the leaves will turn yellow and pink and have a glorious scent before falling. 2 gal. $30.00 C. JAPONICUM 'PENDULUM' - The Weeping Katsura tree. Fifteen feet seems to be the ultimate height. The blue tinged foliage turns yellow in September. Never seems to form a leader. 1 gal. $ 30.00 C. JAPONICUM 'RASPBERRY' - This katsura tree has the typical foliage each spring and summer. In other words the foliage is the usual gorgeous purple in spring followed by dark green in summer. The fall foliage is yellow with rich pink overtones. The fall foliage also has the typical sweet scent. 5 gal. $ 30.00 C. JAPONICUM 'ROTFUCHS' - We are happy to be able to offer this exciting Katsura tree with purple new growth. The foliage comes out in spring deep purple and by July changes to dark, purplish green. The tree is the same as C. japonicum as to size and fall color. Probably won't hold color long in the south. 1 gal. $ 30.00 C. MAGNIFICUM - This is perhaps the most beautiful tree in our garden. Our plant is a major feature year round. In winter the arching, tiny branches have a nice silhouette. Bronze new growth. In fall the foliage is rich yellow with peachy highlights. It is smaller growing than C. japonicum. Very good for smaller gardens. 1 gal. $ 28.00 2 gal. $ 35.00 C. MAGNIFICUM 'PENDULA' - Has large dark green foliage during summer. In fall the color is golden yellowpink. The terminal stem grows upright and eventually becomes weeping. Our plant is 20 years old and is 25' tall and 15' across. It always receives attention when visitors see it. 1 gal. $ 35.00 CERCIS C . CHINENSIS 'AVONDALE' - This Chinese Redbud has almost too many flowers. The typical purple-pink flowers are carried in great profusion along the stems, including major trunks. We have seen this plant hardy in Southwestern Connecticut. 1 gal. $ 15.00 C. CHINENSIS 'DON EGOLF' - Brilliant pink flowers cover this plant from toe to head. Named for the great plant breeder, Don Egolf. 1 gal. $ 15.00 CHAENOMELES C. 'CAMEO' - Double peach flowers cover this flowering quince in early spring. Many people think the quinces are too wild colored. C. 'Cameo' has very soft colored flowers that can combine with other plants. 1 gal. $ 14.00 C. SUPERB 'CRIMSON & GOLD' - This brilliant red flowering quince is a bushy 2-3' shrub. This plant would be great for an informal espallier on a wall. We grow the similar C. 'Hollandia' as an espallier and always get great comments. 1 gal. $ 14.00 C. 'HIME' -VERY LIMITED. One per customer. The interesting flowering quince is unusual in that it doesn't have any thorns. The plant will get 2-3 feet tall and wide. The flowers are orange red in March and though the individual flowers are small there are lots of flowers on the stems. 1 gal. $ 20.00
