OSMUDA REGALIS 'PURPUREA'- This giant<br />

among hardy ferns gets to at least 8'. Our 15 year old is now<br />

7-8' and still getting larger. The light green leaves turn yellow<br />

and tan in the fall before dying down for winter.<br />

OXYDENDRUM ARBOREUM - Sourwood. This small<br />

tree has almost everything we could want in a tree. The small<br />

tree gets to 20' or so and has an arching form. The white<br />

flowers look like long fingers and are small white bells in<br />

summer. In fall the red color is gorgeous red for quite a long<br />

time. Easy to grow in well drained soil.<br />

OZOTHAMNUS ROSMINARIFOLIUS - This tiny leafed<br />

gray foliaged plant will get 4-5' tall. Year round the evergreen<br />

plant has pretty foliage for full sun. The flowers are in white<br />

PAEONIA<br />

P. DELAVAYI - This plant looks very much like P.<br />

ludlowii var 'Lutea', but rather than the brilliant yellow<br />

flowers, but rather than the brilliant yellow flowers P.<br />

delavayii will have deep maroon flowers. The 6-8' shrub will<br />

have multiple trunks and spectacular green foliage all summer.<br />

In the fall the leaves will turn right yellow. The plant is very<br />

hardy as well as being a beautiful shrub.<br />

P. LUDLOWII 'LUTEA' - This tree peony has single<br />

golden yellow flowers. The plant can get to 8' tall in 20 years.<br />

The foliage is typical tree peony form but is longer and<br />

narrow. These plants are seedlings so may take 2-3 years to<br />

bloom but will have uniform gold, yellow flowers.<br />

P. 'ALICE HARDING' - (Lemoine 1935). A semidouble<br />

medium yellow. The foliage is attractive as all the tree<br />

P. 'BANQUET' - (Saunders 1941) This semi double, red<br />

flowering tree peony is very striking in May. It's hard to miss<br />

these beautiful flowers. 5 gal. $ 100.00<br />

P. 'GOLD SOVEREIGN' - (1949) . This soft yellow<br />

tree peony is the last to bloom in May. The multiple stemmed<br />

plant fills in, growing fast into a broad plant.<br />

P. 'KIUSHU CAPRICE' - This tree peony is by far the<br />

earliest to bloom, usually by April 15. The large pink flowers<br />

are semi-double and last a long period. The plant should get to<br />

P. 'VESUVIAN' - (Saunders 1948) - This vigorous tree<br />

peony is very low growing and not only has beautiful flowers,<br />

but the cut leafed foliage turns color in the fall to extend the<br />

season. P.'Vesuvian' has dark purple-black double flowers for<br />

a long season in late April into early May.<br />

PARROTIA<br />

P. PERSICA 'SELECT' - This parrotia has a purple<br />

margin on the leaves during summer. Fall color is the same<br />

beautiful orange, red and yellow as the species.<br />

PARROTIA PERSICA 'VANESSA' - This is a narrow<br />

growing parrotia, so can be grown in a much smaller position.<br />

P. PERSICA 'PENDULA' - A much more beautiful plant<br />

than the books say. Our plant is 10' tall and 8' across in 10<br />

years. It isn't exactly weeping, but more arching. The newer<br />

growth has a purplish tint and the fall color is very good.<br />

Among the finest fall colors in '99. It was still colorful at<br />

Christmas. 2 gal. $ 35.00<br />

PARTHENOCISSUS<br />

P. 'FENWAY PARK' - This golden form of Boston Ivy<br />

was actually found in Boston at Fenway park. The fine<br />

textured golden leaves hold their color all summer. It isn't an<br />

agressive vine so it can grow with other moderate growers.<br />

F. 'HENRYANA ' - This parthenocissus species has dark<br />

green leaves with silver veins. There is also a definite purple<br />

cast to the underside of the leaves and petioles. The fall color<br />

is brilliant red. This is a small growing vine which does well<br />

in filtered shade like growing up a magnolia.<br />

PHILADELPHUS<br />

P. 'BELLE ETOILE' - This fragrant mock orange has<br />

white flowers with lavender flush on the inside of the petals.<br />

Some books say how dark purple the centers are, but being<br />

honest, the centers are a nice light lavender. Be warned in<br />

warm climates (California and the deep south) the petals will<br />

be white. This is one of the loveliest mock oranges.<br />

P. CORONARIUS 'AUREUS' -We have only a limited<br />

supply of the golden foliaged mock orange this year. The<br />

foliage is bright golden yellow that will fade to yellowchartreuse<br />

yellow by mid summer. Needs some light shade so<br />

the foliage won't burn. 1 gal. $20.00<br />

P. CORONARIUS 'VARIEGATUS.' - We have been<br />

trying to get enough of these plants for several years. We<br />

don't have a big supply but we can help some people get this<br />

beautiful plant. The variegation is a broad white margin to the<br />

mid-green leaves. We don't seem to see many flowers but<br />

they are white and sweetly scented in June.<br />

P. DELAVAYI 'PURPUREUS' - This mock orange<br />

has a grace about the plant stems and flowers sometimes<br />

lacking in the hybrids. The light stems terminate in purple<br />

stems holding the small white flowers. The flowers slightly<br />

droop mAking them very graceful. 2 gal. $20.00<br />

P. 'FALLBROOK' - The flowers of P. 'Fallbrook' are<br />

single but are 2" across and are pure white. The fragrant<br />

flowers always draw attention because they are so large.<br />

P. 'INNOCENCE' - A variegated mock orange that has<br />

splashed white on dark green leaves. The flowers are 2"<br />

across and are pure white. Makes a nice change from the<br />

P. 'MANTEAU D'HERMINE' - This Lemoine hybrid is a<br />

2-3' mound of small leves. Flowers are double, fragrant and<br />

creamy white in June. 1 gal. $ 15.00
