The house was built in 1920 and presents a
monument of wooden architecture. In two
halls artistic exhibitions, planairs, thematic
events regularly take place. The House of
Artists is a centre of Jurmala department
of Latvian Artists’ Union, that includes
60 professional artists and students. Also
a studio of weaving craft is located in this
house.

A house where famous poetess Aspazija
spent last 10 years of her life it is located in
the narrowest place of Jurmala – in Dubulti,
where is narrow spit of 320 metres dividing
the river and the sea. The house is built in 1903
and is a unique sample of wooden architecture.

In 1996 House of Aspazija was open for visitors
as a memorial site of the poetess.
Museum offers also permanent exposition
“Life and work of Aspazija from 1933 to
1943”; a paedogocial programme “Aspazija
and the ink” is offered for junior grades.
New married couples are invited to have
their first joint cup of coffee in a living room
of Aspazija, and enjoy historical interior of
the room. It is possible to rent premises for
workshops and events.
A monument to Aspazija has been recently
settled in the garden.

Museum was renovated in 2004 and also
offers to have a rest in a cosy café, look into a
souvenir shop and explore several exhibition
halls.
Since 2008 the museum offers permanent
exposition “History of Rigas Jurmala and
Ķemeri resorts”. The exposition shows
important milestones of city’s development:
photos, documents and household objects.
Visual digital exposition helps to feel the
spirit of different centuries in the resort life
through the documental short-films and
music.
In honour of the museum’s 50-year anniversary,
in May 2012 a new exhibition “Resort
fashion” will be opened here. The exhibition
will present museum collection of clothes,
swimmimg suites, accessories, photos and
fashion magazines, that will introduce traditions
of resort life in 19 – 20 centuries.

In a summer cottage that was built in the
end of the 19th century Rainis and Aspazija
lived from 1927 till the death of poet in
1929. In museum there is personal library,
memorial rooms with original interior, as
well as documental videos about the life of
poets.
The museum offers guided excursions,
educational programs and demonstration of
documental short films in Latvian, Russian
and English, as well as a guided bicycle
tour visiting all the life places of Rainis and
Aspazija.

Art gallery exposes interesting and original
exhibition of works that are made in a unique
technique (fluorescent painting effect) –
works start to glitter in a special light, and
a new picture is exposed to a viewer - a
picture that was hidden under the first work.
