OPTICAL COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS ENGINEER<br />
Will be responsible for the design, development (leading a team of engineers), <strong>and</strong> test of<br />
lasercom terminals <strong>and</strong> systems. Will also work with device technologists to identify enabling<br />
components <strong>and</strong> define their functions in the various systems.<br />
Qualifications: MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering. An underst<strong>and</strong>ing of communications<br />
channels, channel mitigation techniques, waveforms, etc., is required. Five years of related<br />

MODULATION AND CODING SPECIALIST<br />
Will explore the performance of coding on novel channels. Work includes the analysis of existing<br />
codes <strong>and</strong> the development of new codes. Will work with hardware developers to strike a balance<br />
between performance <strong>and</strong> complexity.<br />
Qualifications: PhD in Electrical Engineering. An underst<strong>and</strong>ing of coding theory from both an<br />

CONTROLS SPECIALIST<br />
Will work with lasercom systems engineers to analyze, design, build, <strong>and</strong> test lasercom tracking<br />
systems. Work will also address active stabilization of optical <strong>and</strong> mechanical components.<br />
Qualifications: MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering. A general underst<strong>and</strong>ing of optical<br />
detectors <strong>and</strong> actuators, including nutators, FSMs, gimbal drives, quad cells, cameras, etc., is<br />
