Important step for entry into
civil engineering sector

In China initiating business contacts
and negotiating contracts requires
a longer time, than we are
used to in Germany. It is important
to get to know each other and
develop mutual trust. To this end
Sievert Baustoffgruppe invited a
high ranking Chinese delegation
to visit Osnabrück from the 12th
to 15th of July 2010.
In addition to Changhuai Zhang, General
Secretary of the Central Government
of Hefei, the group of visitors
included other government representatives,
entrepreneurs and professors.
The program also included a reception
by the Mayor of Osnabrück, Mr. Boris
Pistorius, who greeted many old acquaintances
at the City Hall. "Friendship
with Hefei is very important to
us, not only because it is a particularly
good friendship, but also because it is
of great signifi cance for the future."
Moreover: "Courage is required to
make a further step toward China,
however this meeting showed that
this step is worth the risk, when
friends are involved."
This visit had important consequences
for the Sievert Baustoffgruppe. The
fi rst steps were taken for success in
civil engineering with precast construction
elements. In concrete terms
this means: Sievert will receive public
subsidies in China amounting to 2.0
million RMB (approx. 200,000 EUR)
for erection of a fi ve story show
house constructed using precast elements.
This building will be erected
by January 2011 on the grounds of
the Sievert Plant in Hefei. The goal is
to prove the high quality and effi
ciency achievable with the use of
precast construction elements. If the
show house convinces local decision
makers, the chances are good for also
supplying the precast elements for
erection of 18 story buildings.
The knowhow of the Sievert Concrete
Precast Elements (Hefei) will soon be shown
for civil engineering projects: Show house
presently being erected on the Sievert Plant
grounds.
