all-district quarterback for the Gators as a senior (2009), throwing for over 1,500 yards and<br />

nine touchdowns ... also ran for 934 yards and 13 TDs ... chose Texas A&M over Houston.<br />

PErSONAL: Clay Honeycutt is the son of Lynn and Lori Honeycutt of Dickinson, Texas …<br />

born March 12, 1992 ... enrolled at A&M in January of 2010 and went through spring drills<br />

with the <strong>Aggie</strong>s ... father, Lynn, was a two-year letterwinner for the <strong>Aggie</strong>s at defensive<br />

back (1978-79), who joined coach Emory Bellard’s team in ‘78 as a JUCO transfer from<br />

Henderson County JC ... high school coach, Warren Trahan, was a two-year starter at<br />

2010 (Junior): Selected honorable mention All-Big 12 after a solid season that saw his<br />

play in all 13 games, starting 12 of the contests ... injury forced him to miss the start at<br />

KU but was able to contribute off the bench ... finished fifth on the team with 62 tackles<br />

... also contributed a pair of interceptions and 1.5 tackles for loss … had a crucial forced<br />

fumble at the goalline against Texas Tech ... tied for the team-high with eight tackles in a<br />

win over Texas Tech ... notched a season-high with nine stops at Baylor ... selected Walter<br />

Camp National Defensive Player of the Week after collecting four tackles and a pair of<br />

interceptions in an upset win over No. 8 Nebraska.<br />

2009 (soPhomore): A second-team All-Big 12 selection by the league’s head coaches<br />

... started all 13 games at strong safety ... led the team with 95 tackles in 2009 ... totaled<br />

seven or more stops in the last five games ... made 22nd start of career against Georgia in<br />

Independence Bowl (12/28), recording eight tackles (one for loss) ... seven tackles against<br />

No. 3 Texas (11/26) ... had a season-high 13 tackles against Colorado (11/7), his fourth<br />

career double-digit performance ... registered nine tackles at Kansas State (10/17) ...<br />

posted a team-high nine tackles versus Oklahoma State (10/10) ... picked up six solo stops<br />

against Arkansas (10/3) ... recorded seven tackles in 38-30 win over Utah State (9/19) ...<br />

2008 (Freshman): Earned first-team Freshman All-America honors by College<br />

Football News after finishing third on the team with 65 tackles … 46 of his 65<br />

tackles were solos … intercepted a Graham Harrell pass against Texas Tech<br />

and returned it 23 yards to set up a score … intercepted two more passes in the<br />

<strong>Aggie</strong>s’ win over Colorado … also posted two tackles for loss … notched 17 tackles against<br />

Army in his first career start to earn Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors … special<br />

teams standout also tied for the team lead with eight kickoff return tackles … garnered<br />

honorable-mention All Big 12 honors from the conference coaches.<br />

HIGH SCHOOL: Coached by Gary Joseph at Katy High School ... 2007 Houston Touchdown<br />

Club Defensive Player of the Year … earned First-team all-state defensive back honors from<br />

the Texas Sports Writers Association … first Team All-District return specialist and defensive<br />

back. (District 18-5A) … first Team All-Greater Houston defensive back and defensive player<br />

of the year … as a senior (2007), Hunter tallied 136 tackles (95 solo) while intercepting<br />

four passes and breaking up 17 more … special teams standout also blocked two kicks and<br />

returned two kicks for scores.<br />
