Glenden Gladiators
Complete triathlon
three Glenden residents, Kerrina
Watters, megan Napier and
michelle Sweeney travelled
to Yeppoon to compete in
the mercure Capricorn resort
Ironman 70.3 triathlon on the
19th of August 2012. the event
consists of a 1.9km Swim, 90km
bike ride and 21.1km run. Over
745 individuals and 47 teams
competed in the event, including
20 professional triathlon athletes.
the Gladiators finished 6th in
the women’s team’s category;
Kerrina completed the ocean
swim in 30 minutes, megan
finished the bike ride in just over
3 hours and michelle ended the
race with the half marathon in a
little over 2 ¼ hours, finishing in a
total time of 6 hours.
the experience of participating
in such an event was a little
daunting, but watching and
competing against so many
dedicated athletes was an
amazing experience.
