TCP in Wireless Networks
● Theoretically the transport layer protocol should be independent of lower
layers
● But TCP is optimized for wired networks
● TCP assumes that packet loss is due to congestion in the network
● In wireless networks packet loss occurs due to the medium
● Thus, performance of TCP in wireless networks is poor
● Many approaches to solve the performance problem
● Indirect TCP (as an example)
● The end-to-end connection is broken in two parts
