Client Server ● Full-duplex connection<br />

● Segmentation of a byte stream into<br />

segments.<br />

● Usual sizes are 1500, 536, or 512<br />

byte; thus IP fragmentation is<br />

avoided.<br />

● All hosts have to accept TCP<br />

segments of<br />

536 byte +20 byte = 556 byte<br />

● Usual acknowledgement mechanism:<br />

● All segments up to ACK-1 are<br />

confirmed. If the sender has a<br />

timeout before an ACK, he repeats<br />

the sending.<br />

● Usual procedure for repeating:<br />

● Go-Back-N or Selective Repeat<br />
