3 About The <strong>Flextronics</strong> Pledge<br />
Of the many achievements that we are extremely proud of, The<br />
<strong>Flextronics</strong> Pledge ranks <strong>high</strong> on my list. The <strong>Flextronics</strong> Pledge<br />
is the heart and soul of our business sustainability which serves<br />
us in three ways:<br />
First, <strong>CSER</strong> helps us to secure and retain a moral license to<br />
operate. Communities around the world are willing to partner<br />
with <strong>Flextronics</strong> because The <strong>Flextronics</strong> Pledge ensu<strong>res</strong> that<br />
we conduct business ethically, treat our people <strong>res</strong>pectfully,<br />
protect the environment relentlessly and build up communities<br />
around us continuously.<br />
Secondly, The <strong>Flextronics</strong> Pledge aids us in building a<br />
positive working environment whe<strong>rev</strong>er we operate. This is<br />
especially important considering today’s changing workforce<br />
demographics. Competition for talent is intensifying globally.<br />
With a healthy community atmosphere, <strong>Flextronics</strong> draws and<br />
retains the best talent, which in turn improves our business<br />
sustainability.<br />
Thirdly, The <strong>Flextronics</strong> Pledge assists us in creating a powerful<br />
positive feedback chain which is instrumental for attracting and engaging new talent.<br />
Although we have yet to reach the stewardship stage, we have made significant headway in many<br />
areas. For example, we have invested US$9 million to enhance our employee facilities in Zhuhai,<br />
Guangdong Province. This investment brought remarkable returns, in terms of increased employee<br />
engagement rate and reduced attrition rate. As you will see from Alexandra Harney’s foreword, we<br />
are aware that demographics and aspirations have changed in China. We are proactively taking steps<br />
to <strong>res</strong>pond to these changes to remain as the employer, supplier and investment of choice in China.<br />
Over in Manaus, Brazil, our facility is rated as one of the top corporations to work for, with less than 0.1<br />
percent attrition rate annually.<br />
I am confident that we are on track to achieving The <strong>Flextronics</strong> Pledge roadmap targets, considering<br />
the steps that we have taken in the past years.<br />
