Mario Ledesma is about to reach the Top Five Pumas players with more caps played
with the team. He has obtained much experience in Tours, facing teams like Canada,
England, New Zealand, Japan, Italy, France and Wales. Before signing a contract
with the French Clermont, Mario played for Castres, Narbonne and Curupayti, the
latter in Argentina. He played for the first time in the Pumas team in 1996 against
Uruguay and captained the team that visited Japan in 1998. His highest peak with
the Pumas was the 2007 World Cup, when the team got the third position. He has
the peculiarity that he started playing as number eight during his youth before he
changed to his present position as hooker. Ledesma, who is 38 years old, has
announced his retirement from the game at the end of the 2010-11 season.
Did you know? Among the 30 men that make up the squad, Mario Ledesma is
the player who has played the biggest number of test matches: 77. He is the
third player with most capped players for Argentina of all times.
