NOTE: U-bolts go on the
dead end of wire rope because
the U-bolt introduces a stress
concentration that may weaken
the wire rope. The saddle has a
large surface and does not cause
this type damage. The clamps
are applied as shown with U-bolt
near the end of rope limiting
damage to the less critical part of
the rope.
