Lea River Park - Exotic Wild
Comprises East India Dock Basin [1.6.41] + other
access improvements and private development
projects [1.6.02, 1.6.22, 1.6.23, 1.6.24, 1.6.66,]
The wild and exotic character of this esturine stretch
of Bow Creek will be reinforced through the provision
of new visitor facilities at East India Dock Basin,
access improvements, ongoing habitat management,
and the creation of new open space and habitat on
adjacent development sites.
At East India Dock Basin the proposal is that a new
facilities building, improved access routes and
connections to trails, and ecological improvements to
the basin itself, together provide a focus and point of
orientation for explorations of the surrounding area -
which already includes genuinely wild areas, the Bow
Creek Ecology Park and colossal potential habitats
related to infrastructure and new developments.

1.6.01 Lea River Park - Poplar River Park
Poplar River Park is a project that expands the
riverside park space of the phase 1 Fatwalk route to
create a new local park related to the extraordinary
setting of the double bend in the river. The park
would connect back to an existing green space
within the Aberfeldy estate to create a varied park
space - focussed in particular on community use - to
support existing and new residential development
at its margins, and across the broader area, which
currently suffers from a lack of access to open space.
It is anticipated that LB Tower Hamlets would take on
governance of the park as an extension of that role on
the riverside Fatwalk route.

surrounding area, and are ring-fenced for the future delivery of
the Park
1.6.42 Lea River Park-Twelvetrees Park
1.6.43 Lea River Park - Abbey Mills/Mill Meads
With the decommissioning of the listed gas holders
at Twelvetrees Crescent and reinstatement of
public access to areas of Mill Meads (once the
Tideway project is completed), the creation of a ring
of park spaces - encompassing Three Mills Green
(completed), restored water meadows at Mill Meads,
and a major event/park destination at Twelvetrees
connecting Bromley by Bow and West Ham - would
become possible.
