Robin Blake (A66) Robin Blake (A66) recently published a new book entitled A Dark Anatomy. It is a historical crime mystery, set in 1740s Lancashire. New Years Honours Three Old Amplefordians were named in the 2011 New Years Honours List – Michael Ancram (W62) and Julian Fellowes (B66) were both awarded Life Peerages and Anthony Fitzherbert (C56) was awarded an OBE for his service to agricultural development in Afghanistan. Eric Thomas (H70) Eric Thomas (H70), Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bristol since 2001, has been elected to serve as President of Universities UK from 2011 to 2013. Universities UK is the representative body of all Universities in the UK. Charles O’Malley (D85) Charles O’Malley (D85) has been appointed a ‘London Leader’ for 2011 by the London Sustainable Development Commission. In this part-time role Charles will be launching a high profile innovation challenge and ‘bootcamp’ for early stage entrepreneurs, in partnership with a number of large corporates and investors. Hugh Billett (C95) Hugh Billett (C95) heads a team at Morgan Stanley focusing on family offices and private clients in the UK with a special emphasis on the North-East. Guy Mankowski (B01) recently published his first novel. The Intimates tells the story of a group of closely-knit friends, each brilliantly talented failures, who are brought together one night at a party held by Francoise to celebrate the completion of her memoir, which portrayed them at their most promising.
