WORLD BOOK DAY
World Book
Day
For World Book Day, Mrs Keogh, our
librarian, offered a list of possible titles to
the school librarians and they chose Wind
in the Willows, mainly for the wonderful
characters in the book. This has now
become an annual event very much
anticipated by in-coming librarians. Once
the book had been chosen the set had to
be designed, costumes ordered and
provisions made. The Front Hall was
turned into Moley's house, complete with
a second hidden entrance, and a picnic on
the river bank. Librarians dressed up as
Toad, Mole, Ratty, Badger, the maid and
butler and a wicked weasel while Mrs
Keogh and parent Mrs Grace, set to work
making delicious storybook-looking
muffins, cakes and biscuits. The room was
quite enchanting once the set was
complete and every child in the school had
the opportunity to visit and try on a face
mask on their way through to buy a book
at the book fair. Events like these go a long
way to encouraging reluctant readers, firing
the imagination of all age groups and
inspiring more advanced pupils to write
their own stories.
