Nelson Pizarro is the general manager
of the Chilean mine Caserones,
and president of Expomin
International Congress, to be held in Santiago,
Chile, in April. The engineer details
the topics to be discussed in this event.
–What is the focus of this version
of expomin international congress?
On this thirtieth version of the expomin
international Congress the central
concept will be, as the name suggests,
‘Times of competitiveness and technological
innovation’, because today it
is required to develop a new look for
present and future, to assume the challenges
facing our sector. Also will be
displayed, advances in technology and
innovation of the last two years offered
by machinery industry, equipment and
supplies for the development of mining
business. Among the 35 countries
that will be present are the most active
regarding offers of new technologies
and equipment for mining.
–What kind of events will take
place in the conference?
For the first day the realization of
an inaugural roundtable on competitiveness
of mining is intended. in the
afternoon will take place the vi Seminar
‘Competitiveness of Mining in the Americas’,
organized by the national Mining
Society (Sonami, of Chile). During the
day, a seminar on the future of supply in
mining is contemplated. in the congress
will also be present the issue of the relationship
with the environment and communities
in the seminar of sustainable
trends scheduled for Tuesday. The day
will culminate with a seminar on sea
water for mining.

En esta trigésima versión del Congreso
Internacional Expomin el concepto central
será, como su nombre lo indica, “Tiempos
de competitividad e innovación tecnológica”,
pues hoy lo que se requiere es desarrollar
una nueva mirada de presente y
